How To Measure A Circuit Board

How To Measure A Circuit Board

• Width is the dimension of the PCB as it fits top to bottom in the box.

• Length is the dimension of the PCB as it fits left to right in the box.

• Thickness is the dimension of the PCB as it fits between the cells in the box.

• Be aware of any component that extends past the board. Extended parts could be damaged when loaded into a cell.

• Are the dimensions inside dimensions (I.D.) or outside dimensions (O.D.)?• Is the box a conductive box? It needs to be if it isn’t. Some people think they just need

conductive partitions to give them ESD protection. They need a faraday cage. Partitions only are not sufficient unless they are using shielding bags.

• Single or double thickness partitions? Our stock partitions are double thickness. • How many short dividers and how many long dividers?

Try to confirm the “cell-size” that the end user is trying to have. Also, try to get the size of their circuit board to offer them a stock box as an alternative. We always try to sell the stock box whenever possible.
