SkyLine Heart Walk Team Raises Over $2,800 to Fight Heart Disease SkyLine’s 15-member Heart Walk team had another successful year raising awareness and funds for the American Heart Association (AHA). Through various fund- raising efforts among the employee group as well as the annual raffle, the team raised a total of $2,890. Several local businesses/individuals have supported our annual Heart Raffle, and we wish to recognize and thank our 2012 raffle donors for their support (see below). Pictured at the Heart Walk, held June 2 at the 1904 Courthouse in Jefferson, are about half of the members from our team, with some of their children also taking part. Thanks to all who have supported our efforts again this year. Heart disease is still America’s number one killer, so we remain committed to supporting the AHA, whose mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Lightning: What to Do,Before, During and

After a StormBefore a lightning storm: Unplug yourcordless phone, answering machine andmodems from their jacks and electricaloutlets. We recommend this even if youuse surge protectors because those devices cannot guarantee 100-percentprotection.

During a storm: Stay off the telephoneunless you need to make an emergencycall. Lightning does strike telephonelines, and there is a chance that youcould be hurt if you are on the phone.

After the storm: If you notice static onyour line, make sure that a damagedcordless phone, computer or satellitedish isn’t causing it. To test, just unplugall equipment from the jacks and electri-cal outlets. Wait a minute and plug in astandard non-cordless phone. If thestatic is gone, you can assume yourother equipment is causing the problemand may be damaged. If you have staticon the line and know your equipmentisn’t causing it, call us! Please don’twait, assuming that there is a more universal problem that we know about.
