The .hove infonnation conc:eming Lee Go.-don Mines and Nonur Mines was obtained from company vi6cials.

HJ"TORY

Prospecting in the general aua has been c:a>rried on for several y .. :u-s. During March and April, 1955, a magnetomet« iNney W~5 carried out over the property. Two p;u:ksack diamond drill hole. were .lso put down during 19S6. No results of importance were tnCounten:d in these boles. No woek. other th3n thlt described above. hiS been carried out 00 the pr0perty to the knowledge of the writer.

GENERAL GEOLOGY

The topography is similar to that in most of the mining districts of Northem Ontario. Map ISh, compiled by W. H. Collins of the GeoIogic:al Survey of Canada, is the best published geological map covering the property which i. shown to be underlain Huronian sediments of the Gowganda formation. Map 872a. Falconbridge, issued by the Geological Survey of Canada, shows that the general area to the west com.;ns many more intrusions of diabase than shown on map 1 f 5 ••

No exposurn of signi6caat mintraliution are known to ""i.t on the property.

A report on the GeolosY of the Askigami Lake Area by H. W. Fairbairn, Ontario ~artment of Mines, Vol. 48, part 10. 193'. desc:ribes all _ which includes the western part of Davis Township. He SUtes that "The gold is commonly associated "'ith quartz veins lying in .hen zones in the gabbro" (referred to in this rrport as diabase). Pyrite. ehalc:opyriu. and bornite art mentioned ~s being associated with the gold which occurs in sptc:uc:ular but erratic amount •.

GEOPHYSICAL WORK

A magnetometer survey was performed on the projXTty during March and April, 1956. Mr. R. D. Hutchison, grophysicist. in this report dated May " 19J6 re.:ommen4s thn a self potential survey be carried out over the property.

The magnet!.c contours Rfiec:ts strongly linear structural features striking a few degrees south of east. Any m~gnetic __ .,.,wy produc:ed by the JUl'Ver could be the product of strong pyrrhotite mineralization, or of sulphide mineralization l$IOCaced with magnetite. It a ~ likely. however, that they derive from the varying magnetite c:ontmt of the rock units contained in the property. A.s n:ch. in this area, the J.near magnetic high anomalies probably trace out intrusions of cfiabase and the non-lintv hi ~h5 prob .. ,;!v rdkct ~he presenc .. of small diabase plugs or erratic distribution of magnetite within the rock units. The im\'Ol'Wlt point is tiwt lacking detailed and intimate geological knowledge on rock type distribution, the magnetic c:harac:tm.-.tK. of the anomalin, a1.:me, do not allow distinction of magnetic: sulphide mineralization if, indeed, any Nch mitm'alizatioo a prcRllt. Furthermore, it leetnS doubtful that the gold-sulphide assoc:iation a magnetically posicift. The main value of the surver a~>a", to lie in the probable detection of diabase which Fairbairn describes as ~ flyouub!e host fOf gold.

The telf potential -mod a probably the most efficient method of detecting the sulphides which eI_here in the area, ~o the west. have been. observed to associate themselves with the gold and copper.
