Principal’s WelcomeWelcome to Ipsley CE RSA Academy.

Ipsley is unique. We work in partnership with the RSA family of schools and the Church of England to provide a caring environment in which all children can thrive, academically, spiritually and socially.

Our close relationship with RSA Academy Arrow Vale combines resources across both schools and therefore enriches the day to day experience within the classroom and beyond for all our pupils. We are able to provide a full primary and secondary curriculum, with each staffed by phase specialists, from 9 through to 19.

We are proud of our Christian distinctiveness and the way in which we support each child’s spiritual and moral development through assemblies, tutor time, R.E. and Learning for Life lessons, as well as across the wider school curriculum. We believe that each child’s learning experience at Ipsley should be much broader than a strong academic foundation: they should leave us ready to face the world and their responsibilities to others. This is especially evident in our work with the local community and church.

We guarantee that when children join our school, they will be joining a purposeful, orderly and happy learning environment. To support our school culture, all pupils are expected to:

• attend school every day and arrive punctually;• work to the best of their ability in and beyond lessons;• treat others respectfully in lessons, at social time and

in the local community;• represent Ipsley well, in both their uniform and their

behaviour;• support the core Christian values of the school.

In return we will provide a safe and stimulating environment, with high quality teaching and learning, and a genuine care in the personal development of each child as an individual.

I hope this prospectus gives you a helpful insight into what makes our school so distinctive but would encourage you to visit us and see our vibrant learning community in action.

I look forward to welcoming you to Ipsley CE RSA Academy.

At Key Stage 2 our curriculum is thematic, engaging and challenging, offering high quality, real-life learning opportunities. Taught in a traditional primary style, with specialist teaching for creative subjects, our curriculum enables pupils to learn in a variety of ways and settings while developing Maths and English skills through creative learning. The curriculum we offer is regularly reviewed by our primary specialist teachers and by our pupils, to ensure enjoyment and achievement in all subjects.

At Key Stage 3 our curriculum is delivered by subject specialists and helps to prepare pupils for success in high school and beyond. All pupils experience the full range of subjects through engaging, challenging and collaborative learning experiences.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS

We believe that all children perform best when learning in a culture of high expectations. These expectations are demonstrated in lessons through differentiated activities designed to challenge pupils, while regular assessment and monitoring of progress ensures that pupils reach their learning potential.

TRICs: the language of learning at Ipsley CE RSA Academy

We believe it is important for pupils to learn and use skills that they can apply to all situations as they move through education and into the wider world, therefore we teach and encourage children to demonstrate TRICs in all aspects of their learning.

Our enrichment programme offers life changing and curriculum enhancing experiences. These opportunities help to develop the whole child, promoting independence, discovery and enjoyment, whilst teaching valuable life skills within exciting and memorable experiences.

Wonder Days - The Idea...

These days will enrich the curriculum and provide opportunities for pupils to strengthen, further develop and apply their skills to become confident learners inside and outside of Ipsley. Our students will become increasingly creative and independent in their learning and thinking.

Our

Valu

es

We believe our pupils should develop our school community and become responsible citizens. Our pupils have the opportunity to become Student Leaders and contribute to our School Council, meaning they become key decision makers within the school, and our representatives in the community.

During their time at our school, all pupils are given opportunities to contribute to the school

and the local community as well as engaging in work with local and national charities. We encourage pupils to make a positive contribution to society to demonstrate how responsible citizens can make a difference to others.

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural aspects of education are clearly evident in our day to day practice, curriculum and whole school ethos which celebrates diversity and encourages tolerance.

We are proud of our Christian distinctiveness and our core values can be seen in all aspects of school life at Ipsley, from the tone of our relationships with each other to the curriculum studied. Pupils are encouraged to explore issues of faith, belief and spirituality as part of their own personal development and preparation for their future lives. Via our links with the local church and beyond, our children have the opportunity to understand what it means to serve and help others.

Our day starts with collective worship, as key stages, year groups or classes. We aim to make these sessions engaging, relevant and inclusive. Sometimes they will include traditional Christian elements, sometimes they will include contemporary music and video, sometimes they will be a quiet time for independent prayer and reflection.

We are proud to be part of the RSA family of academies.

Our school and community benefit greatly from the strong support network and resources of the RSA. A number of pupils and staff have visited the RSA in London and are working alongside RSA Fellows drawing on the wealth of experience and connections that the RSA has to offer. The RSA is working with our staff to support our delivery of the curriculum and are committed to working closely with our pupils to offer them innovative learning and enrichment opportunities.

We are especially pleased to be working particularly closely with RSA Academy Arrow Vale, sharing resources and expertise as we work together on the next stage of our journey.

‘I am delighted that Ipsley has joined the RSA Family of Academies and we are already working together to give pupils the broad range of skills, qualifications and experiences they need to thrive in their continuing education and world of work. The relationship between Ipsley CE RSA Academy and RSA Academy Arrow Vale is an excellent example of the way that two schools can work together to support and learn from one another, and demonstrates the ethos of the RSA family.’
