Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering, IIEE is the first and the only institute in Pakistan, offeringBachelor of Engineering in Industrial Electronics. It prepares high quality manpower, in the form of B.E(IE) graduates, for local industry, R&D organization and engineering higher education institute (HEI).Government of Pakistan, is providing all out support to IIEE in accomplishment of its objective, throughPCSIR and Ministry of Science & Technology.

IIEE has successfully completed 30 luminous years of academic excellence and has earned good reputationin the engineering community. The Institute has produced 26 batches of highly skilled and well trainedgraduates capable to fill the needs of modern Industries and Research Sectors both in Pakistan& Abroad.

The new management of IIEE has introduced new syllabus which follow educational standard of PakistanEngineering Council (PEC), and Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Obeying PEC directives, the IIEE management is also endeavoring to adopt, the Outcome Based Education (OBE) system in itsengineering program, which is popularly known as “Washington Accord”.

I welcome all newcomers in IIEE. After going through a competitive selection procedure, I hope the newcomers, will brave the stringent new standards of OBE System and will complete their eight semester BE(IE) program with flying marks, and will fulfil aspirations of their Parents and the expectations of theNation. I wish them a very bright and promising future.

Rapid advancement in the field of electronics and its influence in our day-to-day life ingeneral and in all aspects of industrial sectors in particular has caused challenging demandson engineering education as a whole. Thus the need of establishing the Institute of IndustrialElectronics Engineering was felt by the Government of Pakistan and the task was assignedto the Ministry of Science and Technology/PCSIR.

In 1985 a study mission of Swiss Experts was invited to Pakistan and it was identified bythe mission that Pakistan needs practical oriented engineers particularly in the field ofElectronics Engineering. The Swiss Government offered to establish Institute of IndustrialElectronics Engineering and an agreement of cooperation was signed.

The present location was selected for building Institute, while the cost of building, theinfrastructure, provision of utilities etc. were borne by the Ministry of Science andTechnology through PCSIR. Equipment for establishing laboratories and experts werearranged by the Swiss Government. PCSIR recruited the faculty staff to support theacademic/administrative activities.

The curriculum and training programme was jointly worked out by SWISS andPakistaniauthorities, (presently IIEE is following revised syllabus on HEC Pakistanstandards). N.E.D. University, Karachi was approached for the grant of affiliation of theInstitute and for award of B.E degree. After due inspection and assessment the Universitygranted affiliation to the Institute to conduct B.E degree course in Industrial ElectronicsEngineering.

Academic activities commenced from June 1989 with an intake of 40 students, and nowit is inducting a batch of 50 undergraduates in 1st Year Engineering. Graduate Engineersof IIEE are very much sought by the Industries/Organizations and those who have so fargraduated are gainfully employed throughout the country and abroad.
