Information management professionals need the ability to collect, find, edit, manage, and transfer data quickly and easily, allowing them to provide the right information to the right people at the right time in support of their business processes. The ProSource* E&P data management system provides a powerful and broad solution for management, visualization, and delivery of corporate data required by all disciplines across an E&P organization.

The ProSource suite comprises five modules—ProSource Enterprise, ProSource Seismic, ProSource Logs, ProSource Results, and ProSource Front Office—that seamlessly integrate with other Schlumberger E&P software applications. The unified ProSource suite environment allows a wide variety of information (including well log and seismic data) to be consolidated and integrated into a common repository, in which comparisons and modifications can be made and the likelihood of data duplication reduced.

ProSource Front Office is the Web front-end for the ProSource suite. In support of data management workflows, it enables data managers to export in native format and deliver corporate data into the Studio* Knowledge (project data) environment for the Petrel* E&P software platform, as well as into projects within the Techlog* wellbore software platform via plug-ins.

For ease of use, the entire ProSource suite uses a common folder-tree interface, while also being configurable to meet specific information-management workflow needs. The software offers multiple means to query and view data—including GIS (geographic information system) maps, charts, wellbore sections, table structure, form (parent/child) views, and the hierarchical tree structure—from ProSource data stores and other federated repositories to support visualization of key data types in your specific workflows.

data managementProsource enterpriseBuilding on the strength of the Seabed open data model, the ProSource Enterprise data management application adds the structure for an integrated working environment. A vast array of data domains are held in a single, integrated repository. Through the platform-neutral interface, you can leverage intuitive and compelling tools and capabilities for browsing, querying, editing, comparing, transferring, and controlling the quality of your data. Echoing the openness of the Seabed model, the ProSource application is fully configurable to deliver data workflows to meet business needs and user expectations. These workflows enhance usability and ensure the security and appropriateness of data access—both to the Seabed datastore and to project or in-house databases, for which ProSource software can easily be personalized.

The combined power of the ProSource environment and sophisticated Seabed technology enables key corporate information management workflows. This allows you to harness server-side processes for bulk loading, exporting, reporting, and transport of data, with the tools to launch, control, monitor, and view results with ease.

Specialized data object views simplify usage and support business-specific data relation rules. Entitlements are offered at the data-record level, allowing fine-grained data access control. Storage of bulk data directly in the database enables consistent data handling, security, and backup and recovery, while the use of industry standards such as Esri spatial data management technology provides unprecedented integration with an enterprise GIS.

Prosource seismicProSource Seismic is a full-featured system for seismic data management using the open Seabed E&P datastore and complemented by ProSource tools. The system is designed to manage data in interpretation projects as well as original field, pre- and poststack data, along with navigation and supporting documents. Advanced tools for data loading, quality control, and exporting are an essential part of the system. Data transfer from ProSource Seismic to interpretation projects and back can be initiated with just few mouse clicks.

The functionality is proven in complex interpretation environments, including distributed and/or based on single- or multivendor interpretation systems. Different interpretation projects can be simultaneously accessed from ProSource Seismic to create a common map representing the locations of all project data. Locations of original seismic data catalogued in the system can also be added to the map, giving a complete picture of all the seismic assets—overlapping seismic data can be identified quickly and easily.

The database provides common storage for various types of information from other E&P domains. Access to the system is provided through a single ProSource interface, which allows you to integrate and aggregate information and display it in a common-tree, GIS, or table view.

GIS data visualization is available seamlessly from ProSource Enterprise, enabled by Esri ArcSDE.

The ProSource system provides a common interface for browsing and viewers to review and manage your data.

Quality control, edit, and load tools—such as the graphical header and histogram displays—provide a more efficient path to accurate archives.

Prosource LogsProSource Logs provides an easily accessible, high-quality data environment for well log data exchange and storage, as well as simplified workflows for data loading. Status notifications relating to the data-loading process by activity are provided and all information is captured and accessible at any time, making it easy to guarantee the quality of data in the central repository. This also ensures that the best available information is always ready for use.

Common industry log formats, such as DLIS, LAS, LIS, PDS, and VSP (in SEG-Y), are managed by ProSource Logs and specific metadata is scanned and captured in the database. This functionality provides powerful searching capabilities, allowing you to find the specific data you need—including associated documents—and reduce the time required to incorporate the information into projects. Using the well log header report feature, logging parameters (as scanned from incoming data files) can be quickly edited and updated.

From import to export, the entire workflow is intuitive, minimizing user interaction and improving response time. The well header information

is populated automatically by the system in such a way that all relevant well log information is preserved and correctly tied to the wellbore.

ProSource Logs technology enables information security to be taken to the curve level—you can be certain that the information is only provided to individuals who are authorized to use it. User access is driven by rules that conform to your specific business policies and procedures. The powerful entitlements system provided by ProSource software controls access to wellbores, curves, and documents.

Prosource resultsWhen significant project decisions are reached, ProSource Results allows you to generate snapshots or studies that capture interpretation-results data and knowledge in the context of a business decision or project milestone. The software enables you to annotate the study, set quality and context tags, and capture details about the interpretation process—results can be uploaded from a range of interpretation applications. You can also archive seismic interpretation data for Petrel and GeoFrame* software—and other third-party software—and further augment study containers with the maps, reports, and documents that support the decisions made at these milestones.

Geoscientists and engineers generally reinterpret data rather than reuse the results of others, causing a significant loss of time and knowledge invested in prior studies. Since interpreted results have significant human input, capturing the context is a critical factor in understanding and future reuse of interpretation results. By ensuring quality and context, ProSource Results improves the chances that captured knowledge will be reused.

data deliveryProsource Front officeProSource Front Office provides a Web interface to the ProSource corporate data management system. Providing easy-to-use tools to search, browse, and visualize stored well data, the software allows you to better understand and take full advantage of your valuable geoscience assets. The intuitive search-refinement capabilities built into ProSource Front Office provide an efficient means to locate, visually filter, and deliver data relevant to current projects.

ProSource Front Office is available as a standalone Web application that can be run from the corporate intranet for easy searching and browsing of corporate data, allowing you to
