Speech as Puck requesting his freedom from Caliban. Non – fiction/fiction comparative: (6 weeks) Island writing extracts. Fiction and non-fiction including 19 th and 20 th century travel writing. Assessment R. Comparison of two non-fiction texts. W. Non-fiction: Description of island. Year 7 exams will use Paper1/2 questions. Performance Poetry: (4 weeks) Study of performance poets such as Johan Agard; Benjamin Zephaniah; Jean Binta Breeze; George. This should allow some time for feedback from the Year 8 exams. Play Shakespeare: Study of key scenes in Romeo and Juliet tracking a theme through several speeches and exploring Shakespeare’s stagecraft through drama. (6 weeks) Assessment: Spoken Language Presentation on aspect of life in Shakespearian England so that knowledge about context is really embedded prior to Year 10. These can be replayed at the start of Year 11 to remind pupils of what they know.
