ABS Housing StatisticsThe Australian Bureau of Statistics also provides statistics for average sale prices and rent costs for property stretching back to the late 1980’s

Just type ‘ausstats’ into the catalogue to access this service, then search for ‘house prices’ using the search box on the top right of screen or browse for housing statistics by choosing statistics – topic – industry - construction
