Get ready for a journey you’ll never forget. From the San Juan

Mountains to the Conejos Valley, the Cumbres & Toltec

Railroad takes you along 64 scenic miles. You’ll zig zag

along the Colorado and New Mexico border through steep

mountain canyons, the high desert, and lush meadows.

You’ll become a part of the pristine landscape and this

engineering feat that has triumphed since 1880.

Your ride will begin in either Antonito, Colorado, or Chama,

New Mexico. The train travels in both directions so you can

either start your day on the train and end with a chauffeured

luxury motor coach ride back to your car, or reverse the order

of events. The luxury motor coach ride is just under an hour

long and is a relaxing transition to or from your destination.

A shorter ride experience is available when you stop at Osier

and return via another train heading back to your original

starting point.

Our season starts Memorial weekend, after the snow has

melted and the wildflowers are in bloom. Bookings continue

through the spectacular golden fall foliage into late October.

Whenever you ride in summer or fall, you’ll enjoy spectacular

scenery, wildlife, and the fresh air of the open gondola car.

Parlor Car, for adults 21 years+. Beer, wine and cocktails are

available for purchase. This ticket also includes a continental

breakfast, snacks, beverages, and a special gift collection.

The Deluxe Tourist Car provides cafe seating with extra

room, complimentary beverages and snacks. Beer, wine

and cocktails are available for purchase. It’s premium class

service for riders of all ages.

Our Coach Cars are budget - friendly and comfortable. The

cushioned bench seating in groups allows families to sit

together. Wide windows provide exceptional views. Snacks,

sundries, and souvenirs are available for purchase.

Meet up in the gondola.It’s fun to walk from car to car, and into the open - air

Gondola. Everyone’s welcome to take in the fresh air,

the unobstructed views, and snap a few photos. Relax

and spend some time here as our docents provide a lively

narrative of the history of the railroad and this spectacular

region. It’s a part of the adventure you won’t want to miss.

Remember to bring your sunglasses and hat, and dress in

layers for all kinds of weather.

A hearty meal is included.We’ll stop in Osier midway through our journey for a

delicious roast turkey or savory classic meatloaf dinner

with all of the fixings. The salad bar is extensive and also

includes the chef’s daily specials like soups, stews and

ethnic dishes. The desserts will really tempt you, with our

famous triple chocolate cake, and a selection of homemade

pies and cobblers.
