Propaganda in WWII
Laura SmithBell 5
Main Reasons for German Propaganda
1) Convince citizens to fight
2) Show the necessity of war
3) Help promote Anti-Semitism
This illustration depicts the Anti-Semitic nature of Germany. The Jew (on the right) is bald, heavy-set, has a large nose and thick lips. This was the customary characterization of Jews. This was done to make the Jew seem unusual, and different from everybody else, allowing society to look down upon them
In the image, Hitler, the Nazi ruler is depicted as the typical “Aryan” (master race). Above his head flies a dove illustrating the peacefulness and righteousness of the Nazi Movement. In Hitler’s right hand is a flag with a swastika, a symbol of hatred towards Jews.
