Introduction

You may want to offer specific promotions at your store. 3dCart allows you to configure any typeof promotion you can think of. This guide will show you the step-by-step process on how to setup

a promotion. It will also show you how to setup specific examples of promotions, and options onhow to customize your promotions to your online store.

Promotion Setup This section will show you how to setup a basic promotion.

1. Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager 2. Click the Add Promotion button3. Under the Create a New Promotion section , type in the promotion name, Example:

December Special 4. Type in a description in the Promotion Description field. Example: All customers get

15% off any products for the month of December if the total bill is $100.00 or more. Thiswill display to the customer at checkout.

5. Add the Start Date and End Date for the promotion. If you want the promotion to startimmediately, make sure these dates encompass the current date.

6. Choose if you would like the customer to receive the promotion automatically, or if theyneed to enter a coupon code at checkout to receive the promotion in the PromotionType field.

NOTE: You will only use a coupon if you want to control who knows about the promotion special, i.e. preferred customers, rather than having everyone use the promotion that shops at your store.

7. Type in the value of Discount the customer will receive. Check the % checkbox if thediscount is to be a percentage of the order total.

8. Click Save .

NOTE: Make sure your Start and End dates encompass the current date if you would like your promotion to be active immediately.

9. Type the total number of uses you would like this promotion to be used in the Total Uses field.

10. Type the total number of uses of the promotion each customer can use in the Uses perCustomer field.

11. Click the Advanced button next the Promotion Rules section.12. Select what customer group you would like the promotion to apply to in the Discount

Group field.13. Choose the Country and State you would like the promotion to apply to. If you want to

exclude certain regions from receiving the promotion, click on the Exclude List link.

14. Type the minimum and maximum range of number of products the order must havequalify for the promotion in the Order Quantity fields. For Example: A person must buy 2 hats to qualify for the promotion

15. Type the minimum and maximum range the order must be in value to qualify for thepromotion in the Order Amount ($) fields. For Example: A person must buy $100 worth of pants to qualify for the promotion .

16. Check the Non-Stackable checkbox if this promotion cannot be used with any otherpromotions per order.

17. Choose the categories you would like promotion to apply to in the Applies if Productsfrom these Categories are in the basket field by clicking the Add button.

18. Check the checkbox next to Order Quantity and Amount restrictions apply tospecified products and categories only if you would like the promotion to apply to onlythe categories or specific products you specify.

19. Click the Add button in the Applies if these Products are in the Basket section to addspecific items for the promotion to apply to. Type in the quantity the customer mustpurchase of each item for the promotion to apply.

20. Click the Advanced button in the Promotion Offers section.21. Check the is percentage checkbox if you want the discount to be a percentage of the

total order, i.e. 15%.

22. Check the Applies per item checkbox if you want the discount to apply to each item,rather than the total order, i.e. $5.00 off each item, rather than $5.00 off the final balance.

23. Check the Free Shipping checkbox if you want the customer to receive free shipping forthe promotion

24. Choose the categories you would like the discount to apply to in the Discount Applies

to These Categories field by clicking the Add button. 25. Choose a specific product you would like the discount to apply to in the Applies to this

product section by clicking the Change button. 26. Choose a specific product you would like offer for free by clicking the Change button in

the Free Product section. Note : This free product cannot have options and must be InStock for the free product to apply to an order.

27. Once you are done, click the Save button.

28. Finally, go back to the top of the screen and click the “Click Here to Enable It Now” link.The promotion will not go into effect until you click the Enable link.

NOTE: By default, the promotion is disabled until you decide to enable it. This allows you to set up your rules for the promotion without having customers try to use it before it is ready.

Examples

This section will show you specific examples of how to set up certain types of promotions.

Free Shipping When an Order is Over $XXX

You may want to only give free shipping to orders that are over a certain amount of money. Todo this under the promotion manager:

1. Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager 2. Click the Add Promotion Button.3. Type in a name for the Promotion – i.e. Free Shipping Promotion4. In the Promotion description field, add the details for your free shipping i.e. Free shipping

for orders over $200.005. Add the dates you would like this promotion to be valid for. If you want the promotion to

start immediately, make sure these dates encompass the current date.6. Click Save .

7. Under the Promotion Manager section, type the total number of uses you would like thispromotion to be used in the Total Uses field.

9. Click the Advanced button next to the Promotion Rules section10. Under the Promotion Rules section, type in the coupon number you would like to

correspond with this promotion in the Requires Coupon field if you want to use acoupon. If you leave this section blank, the promotion will apply to all customers youspecify in the discount group section. You will use a coupon if you want to control whoknows about the promotion special, i.e. preferred customers.

11. Select what customer group you would like free shipping to apply to in the DiscountGroup field.

12. Select the Country and State this Free Shipping Promotion will apply to.13. Type the minimum and maximum range of number of products the order must have to

qualify for free shipping in the Order Quantity fields. It should start low as it does notmatter how many products a person purchases, i.e. 0 – 9999.

14. Type the minimum and maximum range the order must be in value to qualify for freeshipping in the Order Amount ($) fields. Use the minimum value the order must be toreceive free shipping to start the range with, i .e. 200 – 9999.

Buy One, Get One Free

You may want to offer a promotion where a customer purchases a specific item and receivesanother one free. To do this:

1. Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager2. Click the Add Promotion Button. 3. Type in a name for the Promotion – i.e. Buy one, Get one free4. In the Promotion description field, add the details for your promotion i.e. Buy one pair of

cargo pants, get a second pair free.5. Add the dates you would like this promotion to be valid for. If you want the promotion to

start immediately, make sure these dates encompass the current date.6. Click Save .

14. Type ‘1’ in the Qty . field.15. Check the checkbox next to Order Quantity and Amount restrictions apply to

specified products and categories only.

16. Click the Advanced button next to the Promotion Offers section.17. In the Promotion Offers section, choose a specific product you would like offer for freeby clicking the Change button in the Free Product section. For example: for a promotion of buy 1 pair of cargo pants, get a second pair free, you would choose cargo pants for this field. Note : This free product cannot have options to work. If your products haveoptions, we suggest creating an individual product for each option and choosing one forthe Free Product.

Bulk Discount

This example will show you how to do a promotion in the situation that a customer purchases Xamount of items, they will get a discount off another item. For Example: If a customer purchases10 items, they will get 50% off a knit sweater.

1. Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager2. Click the Add Promotion Button. 3. Type in a name for the Promotion – i.e. Bulk Discount 4. In the Promotion description field, add the details for your promotion, i.e. Buy 10 items,

get 50% off a knit sweater. 5. Add the dates you would like this promotion to be valid for. If you want the promotion to

start immediately, make sure these dates encompass the current date. 6. Type in the discount the customer will receive for the promotion, i.e. 50% to receive 50%

off the knit sweater. 7. Click Save .

15. Click the Advanced button in the Promotion Offers section.16. Choose a specific product you would like the discount to apply to in the Discount

Applies to this product section by clicking the Change button (in this example, a knitsweater)

TroubleshootingIf your promotion is not functioning, there are a few settings you can double check to make sureyour promotion has been properly configured.

Make sure the Total Uses for the promotion is not at 0. Check the Total Uses fieldPromotion Manager section.

Make sure you have not ordered more than the allotted Uses per Customer allows for inthe promotion. Check the Uses per Customer field in under the Promotion Managersection.

Make sure the order has been placed within the Start and End date for the promotion.Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager and check the start and end date of yourpromotion.

Make sure your promotion is ENABLED. Go to Marketing -> Promotion Manager andmake sure the Enabled checkbox has a check in it.
