Activities

A. To make the results more accurate

B. To have a basis of comparison

C.To establish a causal relationship between aspirin and heart health

D.Because all studies need at least two groups

E. All of the above are reasons to use a control group

Why do you think researchers use a control group?

A. To make the results more accurate

B. To have a basis of comparison

C. To establish a causal relationship between aspirin and heart health

D. Because all studies need at least two groups

E. All of the above are reasons to use a random assignment

Why do you think researchers use random assignment?

Interactive Lecture

A. Random, 10% condition, Success/Failure, Independent Groups

B. Random, 10% condition, Success/Failure

C. Random, 10% condition, Nearly Normal Condition

D. Random, 10% condition, Nearly Normal, Independent Groups

Which set of conditions do we need to check?

A. If fewer than 80% of people can pass the test, we would observe a pass rate of 73% or less in about .66% of random samples.

B. If 73% of the people in our sample pass the test, there is a .66% chance that 80% of people can pass the test.

C. If 80% of people can pass the test, then there is a .66% chance of observing a pass rate of 73% or less in random samples.

A p-value of .0066 means

I especially like the clicker questions. They provide an apparatus to test one's knowledge without the fear of embarrassment.

The clicker questions really help me figure out the lectures and it makes everything click in my brain, and it helps me figure out I

might be struggling with.

I think the i>clickers help a lot too because they allow you to judge how you are doing compared to the rest of the class as well as motivate more discussions.

Lower numbers are better: before clickers, 1st clicker use

Distribution of Attendance

So what’s the catch?

• Clicker questions take 1 - 2 minutes each so you have to decide what not to do

• Preparing takes longer, at least the first time• Technology is not a magic bullet; success

depends on instructional design

But I never want to go back to life before clickers
