My name is ________________________. We are conducting research on families, which touches onvarious aspects of life, and is conducted in order to understand how the economic reformsinfluence the daily life of Russian citizens.

Four thousand families randomly selected by a computer in all regions of Russia took part in suchresearch in 1994 and 1995. The goal of our work is to understand how the life of Russian citizensis changing. That is why we again want to survey the same people.

All information collected in the course of the research will be used only in synthesized form. Noone, except myself and the organizers of the survey, will know about our discussion.

We understand that you will spend some of your free time on the interview. Besides this,answering these questions is, of course, work. Therefore, we will pay you as much as our resourcesallow.

Participation in our research is voluntary and you always have the right to refuse to answer thequestions.
