  • I. Country OverviewLocation: Chad is a landlocked Country located in

    the center of Africa, between 7o and 23o North Latitude, 13o and 24o East Longitude.

    Neighbouring Countries: Libya to the North; Central African Republic to the South; Sudan to the East; and Niger, Nigeria and Cameroon to the West.

    Land Area: 1,284,000 sq kmPopulation: 11.274.106 people according to the last

    census in 2009

    Official languages: French and Arabic.

  • II. GEOLIGICAL BAKGROUNDFrom geological point of view, Chad takes place in

    the mobile zone, between: The West Africa craton in the west, The Congolese craton in the south, and The Nile craton in the northeastTwo main geological units which dominates in

    Chad: The Precambrian crystalline basement, The Paleozoic to quaternary sedimentary cover.The basement rocks occur in several massifs

    representing , the edges of three major Cratons.The majority of sedimentary cover lie within a

    central depression.There are five regions in Chad: the Tibesti, the Erdis

    basin, the lake Chad basin, the Oudadai, Guerra massif and the Mayo Kebbi massif.

  • III.RESOURCES OF URANIUM(1/2)

    Uranium mineral resources of Chad are distributed in several ways throughout the territory: In the laste 1940, the mapping showed the presence of uranium and thorium index of the most developers are in BET in the North and in Mayo Kebbi in the West and South. Most of these indices are associated with alkaline granites, leuco granites or syenites of Protorozoïque. There are others indications of thorium in sedimentary environment in relation to deposits from ancient regolith overhaul. Clues uranium "primary" includein the Tibesti, north of Aouzou towards Yedri, ten uranium occurrences identified in the granitic basement fractures

  • In Enneri Miski, south of Tibesti, an index located in South eastern of Zouar ;

    In the Mayo Kebbi West, madazang or surveys have shown the presence of pitchblende, coffinite of silicates, U-Pb. The uranium mineralization exploration attribute this to an overlapping area share zones Units Néoprotorozoïque.Clues to Thorium and sedimentary uranium are reported in the Paleocene cover:

    In the Cambro-Ordovician conglomerate regions Boubao, Wadi Baku (near fada);

    At the base of the Ordovician sandstones on the periphery of the Tibesti;

    III.RESOURCES OF URANIUM(2/2)

  • IV.GEOLIGICAL MAP OF CHAD

  • V.URANIUM OF MADAGZANG

    The deposit Madagzang is best known because it has been the subject of previous studies by UNDP and the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) between 1970 and 1980. These studies were supplemented by exploration Chad Mining Services Sarl. The Chad Mining Services Company has completed over 170 vertical wells,22 trenches and a dozen drilling inclined concentrations vary from one well to another the greatest value is in the order of 4000ppm in wells and is 50 to 100 ppm in surface during the mapping. The deposit is estimated at 8,000,000 tons.

  • CMS activities are performed from 2007 to 2010 as following:

    Airborne (airbone survey)The mapping (mapping)Utilization spectrometer handDrilling and trenchingThe samplingLog drilling and log trenchesInterpretationEntering data into the SABLE software

    VI. Methodology:

  • VII.EXPLORATION PROSPECTS

    Guera is located at the Centre of the country and it has a potential still unclear, alkaline granitic (attributed to the Pan African) Added to this is the entire province of BET presents a potential whatever in base with differentiated granites, or in formation coverage, just outside the Tibesti. In particular, continental clastic formations interspersed Paleozoic paleo-fracture subméridiennes presents comparable to that of the region of the Air in Niger characteristics.

    The uranium in Chad is not yet explored in its entirety, it is necessary to deploy the means to highlight the areas of indices which we have just discussed to better understanding the subject of this deposit very helpful as energy.

  • VIII. Measure of concentration of uranium in Lére

  • A. WELL DRILLING

  • B. SAMPLE OF CORE DRILLING HEMATISED

  • C.CORE DRILLING

  • D. Spectrometer

    Sample of core drilling

  • MAP OF DIFFERENT ZONES OF FAVORABILITY OF CONCENTRATION OF URANIUM IN CHAD

    Zones of high favorability

    zones of middle favorability

    Zones of lower favorability

  • IX.CONCLUSION

    Chad although a landlocked country has a huge potential in uranium.

    The exploration and exploitation of the Uranium is been delayed by multiple events of instability that had occurred in the country.

    Studies have shown economically viable deposits of uranium in Mayo-Kebbi, Guera and in the Tibesti but details data are needed to estimate the reserve
