Project Costs
Pre-Kindergarten – • Dedicated appropriate pre-kindergarten space with a separate,
secure entrance and separate drop-off and pick-up
Roof – • New skylights and new insulated roof
HVAC systems – • New energy efficient heating, cooling and ventilation systems
that exceed current code, including indoor air quality and acous-tics
Building Envelope – • Replacement of 1960’s windows and repair of steel roof ‘skirt’
Electrical, Data and Communications Systems – • Upgraded electrical system, upgraded lighting, upgraded
technology infrastructure, new public address system
Life Safety – • Entire building sprinklered for fire protection
Security – • Interior and exterior security features including classroom doors
which lock from the inside, exterior cameras, perimeter control and secure, separate, prominent Pre-K and K-2 entrances
Cafeteria – • Single, centrally located cafeteria with two serving lines and two
dining areas
Playgrounds – • New playgrounds located to the rear of the building accessible
from cafeteria
Parking and Site Circulation – • Separated Pre-K and K-2 traffic patterns and additional parking
spaces
Hazardous Materials – • Abatement of all hazardous materials

Flooring and Cabinetry – • New flooring and cabinets throughout the building
• A renovated Miller-Driscoll school will provide Wilton with a “like new” gateway elementary school at a cost of approx 40% less than the cost of a new school.
• When renovated the Miller-Driscoll school will make Wilton a more attractive community to families relocating to Fairfield County.

MILLER-DRISCOLL SCHOOL PROJECT MILLER-DRISCOLL SCHOOL PROJECT
The overall objective of this school renovation project is to extend the useful life of the school building for 25-30 more years and to add dedicated space to serve a growing special needs pre-kindergarten population.
Project ObjectivesMake the necessary repairs to the building (noted below) and provide sufficient, appropriate and dedicated Pre-K space, per state mandate.• Complete infrastructure upgrades to roof, windows, heating,
ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and technology systems; • Meet current code requirements for occupants health, safety and
access;• Improve comfort and security of students and staff;• Improve energy efficiency; • Provide long-term improvements to teaching and learning
environments; and• Improve pedestrian and vehicular safety on the grounds.
