Note: The difference in member and non-member fees is roughly equal to one year membership and one year local chapter fees.

To receive the discount, be sure to sign up for membership and write down your membership number before applying for the exam.

25 pretest questions will be randomly placed throughout the new examination to gather statistical information on the performance of these questions in order to determine whether they may be used on future examinations.

These 25 pretest items are included in the 200-question examination, but will not be included in the pass/fail determination; candidates will be scored on 175 questions.


Participant’s Notes: In August 2017, PMI launched an enhanced Exam Result report. It includes a detailed and visual explanation of how well the candidate did on the exam; an explanation of the results; and, help and guidance on what to do next. Candidates will also receive more detailed information on each domain of the exam and more customized tips on the Continuing Certification Requirements System. For those who fail, it will help them better prepare to retake the test; for those who pass, it will help guide their professional development.

This is the “blueprint” for the exam. Remember, you do not have to get a certain number of questions correct either in a process group or PMBOK® Guide knowledge area. You simply need to get a certain number of questions correct to pass. While PMI does not publicize the number, for years it has been 106.

Make sure that any sources other than IIL’s have been authored by a PMP who has been engaged in helping people pass the exam. Be wary of practice questions that you can obtain free on the Internet. They can be of very poor quality.

The Kerzner text is an excellent “reference.” It is not meant to be read in its entirety for PMP Exam preparation.
