  • MontageDescription:

A montage that is inspirational and blends two or more pictures and uses typog-raphy.

    Process:

    1. I cropped the image to 11 x 8.5.

    2. I selected the girl and moved her to the background image.

    3. I then used the brush at 20 percent opacity to slowly make the images edge disappear.

    4. I then used the brush at 10 percent opacity to make the image fade into the background.

    5. I then used the brush with white paint at 30 percent opacity to make the lighter side of her face more prominent.

    6. I then used two contrasting fonts and three different values of the same color to provide contrast between the more important words.

    7. Program used: Photoshop

  • BrochureDescription:

    A two sided folding brochure.

    Process:

I set up the folds in InDesign before I started editing. I split the two pages into four sections. The first page would be the front, back, and the inside while the other page acted as the backdrop for those pages in the spots where I cut stuff out.

I used illustrator to make my logo. I looked around on the internet to find a font that I really liked and found one called Dreaming of Lilian. I then made a sword. It was pretty fun until I got to the hilt. I decided to do a lattice on it and ended up just stacking triangles on top of one another and moving them so that they lined up within the hilt. I then used the hilt within the A on adventure time to add some Gestalt to the logo.

On my actual brochure I used illustrator to make the back-ground. I used circles with grey strokes to make the clouds and a green circle with a darker green stroke to make the grass. I then used the pencil tool to make the blades of grass. I used photoshop to edit the images. I had to use the lasso tool on all of my images so that they fit in to my design. I then used text wrap so that the text didnt interfere with the pictures and vice-versa.

    The how to!

  • Web PageDescription:

A web page that is designed to show off a personally de-signed logo.

    Process:

I ended up using text wrangler a lot in order to do my css and html for the website. As you can see I have moved a lot of stuff around so it took a lot of time in both css and html in order to understand how to do it. I used Photoshop in order to change the picture I used to give it a red tint to match the color scheme of the logo. I also used a charcoal picture and made it a little darker in photoshop to add to it. I also switched up the colors of the text so that it contrasted better against the dark background.

  • ImagingDescription:

Incorporate colors into a poster layout while demonstrating good image taking and editing skills.

    Process:

I chose the color scheme split complementary. I took the photos with my girlfriends phone. I then brought my photos into photoshop and chose my favorite one and began editing it. I increased the contrast and brightness just a little bit while sharpening the flowers so that they stuck out a little bit more. I then used repeating design elements to add in my color swatch-es. I also took the colors that I used in the color scheme and used two of them in the title of my poster.

  • Business CardDescription:

Matching letterhead and business card using a custom design.

    Process:

I used illustrator to change up one of the logos that I already had so that it could work in the design that I was thinking about. I then moved my logo to InDesign and started implementing it into a letterhead. I put my logo at the top left of the page and used dots and copy and pasted them at equal distances apart having them go to the right side of the page from the logo. I put the contact info on the right hand side so that the dots would carry your eyes there. I then put black boxes at the top and bottom of the page.

I then started on the business card. I made one side completely black so that the logo would contrast well against it. I added the logo and added the title of the company next to it and made the text orange, yellow, and red to help it all feel cohesive. The other side I made red. I put the logo at the bottom left with a black box behind it. I put the title at the top and used the rectangle tool to create a line to go under the title. I then right aligned the contact information so that it would line up with the end of the line and text.

  • FlierDescription:

This is a black and white flier that is being used to promote a grad-uate leader conference.

    Process:

I first sketched several designs and based this design off of one of those. I then used Adobe InDesign to help replicate my sketch. My design has curves to help the readers eyes flow throught the flier. I also made sure that the title contrasted highly so that it was clear and easy to see and notice. The picture was the focal point due to the way the curved lines come together. I left plenty of white space to give the eyes a break. I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier.

  • LogoDescription:

A simple and easy to recognize logo for company use on product.

    Process:

I created several logos through Adobe Illustrator and then chose one to polish up and present. I used the circle tool and created a simple circle and made it red. I then took the rectangle tool and made a verticle rectangle as the back of the B. I then used the circle tool again to make the rounded parts of the B by creating one and copying it and placing the copy directly underneath. I used the rectangle tool again and made a rectangle on the backside of the circles and got the shape builder tool and deleted the parts I didnt want so that I could have a flat side on my circles.

  • Event AdDescription:

This is a color full bleed ad to promote a fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner

    Process:

I used a scanner and scanned one of my more unique shirts. I decided to break up the picture into two segments. I then decided to add color to it and added colors that were split complementary to teal. I then aligned everything as much as I could. I was pretty impressed with how much I could do with this program. It was kind of like finding a hidden gem.
