Inspiration:

Using information graphics allowed students to see the numbers visually and to correlate them with the information. In this case they were able to see the Mandate of Heaven. As the population decreased, the rulers lost favor with the people and were overthrown.

Picassa:

Allows for student to connect ideas of Ancient China to modern day and allows them to find ways to make it relevant to them. The last picture was of a acupuncture clinic here in Eugene.

Google Earth

I used Google Earth in my work sample and the students really liked the visual tour of the Great Wall of China. We were able to explore the geography and to visualize it. Students were able to make connections between the geography and the hardships of forced laborers.

Web Based Learning: Was an excellent source of ideas for me and very effective for students as well. I used several that had great ideas for projects, lesson plans and other things. Students can benefit from utilizing them the same way a teacher would.

Digital Video:

Students are able to see events firsthand as they occur. Firsthand experience is such a critical aspect of studying history. Listening to a speech is much more powerful than reading it or explaining it to them.

How Does it Affect the Students?

Technology can teach students in ways that teachers cannot.

Using technology promotes self learning and allows them to use innovation to learn and accomplish goals.

Question: How can I continue to implement technology in my classroom and what tools can I acquire that will make teaching easier and more effective?
