Museum of Traditional Arhitecture Gorj

Museum of Traditional Architecture Gorj is an outdoor museum , located in Curtisoara village, about 10 km from Targu Jiu coming towards Petrosani. The museum was founded in 1975 by Prof. Elena Udriste and Arh. Nicu Vanatoru.

With an area of about 13 ha museum has 24 monuments of traditional architecture from Gorj area. Were made and refitted rustic wooden building (houses, cellars, barns) with furniture, costumes, carpets, rugs, tools, pottery, sculpture in wood. The oldest exposed house, built over 200 years ago, Casa Popii Udriste,from Olari village, dating from 1802.

Interestingly, it has two rooms communicating with each other, but have separate entrances, one room with even an emergency exit that leads to a side porch in the end

that is .... toilet.

Household Carligei, dated 1865 - 1870, is a set of residential house (left) and room for clothes (right), belonging to Pantelimon Filip.

Under the stairs in front of a carriage and a few benches school old .... at least 100 years.

House Popii Udrişte from village Olari built in 1802, is the oldest house museum exhibited at the Museum of Traditional Architecture in Gorj .

The House Nicolae Cirniceanu-GalesoaiaIt has two levels; ground floor: cellar and porch, upstairs rooms and porch.

Manor Cornoiu

Manor Cornoiu was built in the village Curtişoara, Gorj County, the present district of the city Bumbeşti Jiu.Manor was restored in 1966-1967 and integrated in the ethnography department of Gorj County Museum, and between 1966 and 1975 around the Manor was built the Gorj Traditional Architecture Museum.

Nearby is the church of St. John the Baptist, beside the Manor is the Mansion and around them are located a lot of buildings that kept many specifics of traditional architecture in Gorj area, country houses, cellars, barns.
