FREE TRANSPORT SERViCEAt Bradford College we offer a FREE transport service for all our Progression Package activities, including our Open Days.This may be subject to availability, funding and distance. Please contact a member of the Student Engagement and Outreach Team for further information.

STAFFiNGWhen visiting Bradford College all groups of students between Primary school age and Year 11 must be accompanied by the appropriate number of members of staff from your school.

This workshop will give students an insight into studying Higher Education at Bradford College and will answer frequently asked questions about courses, entry requirements, fees and the UCAS applicant journey. Contents and delivery can be tailored to suit students of any age.

This is the perfect opportunity for your students to explore our facilities. We even have a Campus Trailblazer that students can take part in, although this is more suitable for Year 11 and upwards as they will be required to navigate around the College campus independently. Tours are usually led by our Student Ambassadors and we are happy to arrange dates and times on request.

BRADFORD COLLEGE BROADCASTiNGAudience: Year 6Group size: Up to 30 pupils per sessionDuration: 1½ – 2 hours

A dynamic and engaging session, ideal for primary education, where students will work in groups to produce scripts for a piece of broadcast media about Bradford College. With help from our Performing Arts and Media departments, students will get to explore what it’s really like to be a student at College and maybe even get to film themselves in our TV Studio (subject to studio availability). This activity runs well alongside a tour of our campus but can also be delivered separately.

ESCAPE TO PLANET ZARGOYLE!Audience: Years 5 and 6Group size: Up to 30 pupils per session

Duration: 1 hour

An interactive, narrative-based session which allows young people to start thinking about the careers they may like to pursue, the choices they are able to make and the training and skills they may need. Imagination is at the heart of the session, with a specific aim of reassuring students that they can aspire to follow a pathway towards careers in high-profile professions.

The children had a fantastic time – i have received really excellent feedback on the day from both children and staff.

i must also thank you for arranging the coach as well. We would love to be involved next year please.

This highly interactive workshop is particularly useful for younger secondary school pupils. It allows them to explore the differences between a job and a career and to consider the importance of skills and decision making when choosing a career path.

With first-hand experience of feeling isolated, excluded and low in confidence following her arrival in the UK from Romania, Student Engagement & Outreach Officer Simona Ionescu will introduce this engaging, thought provoking and inspiring session. Simona will share her own story of success alongside other experts who can help students to realise their potential and offer advice on the support available to them in Further or Higher Education (or both if required).

STRESS BUSTERSAudience: Years 9 to 13Group size: Up to 30 pupils per session Duration: 1 hour

Aimed at preparing students to deal with stresses and worries relating to scholarly life, this is an interactive session. By using a game theme, the workshop seeks to reassure young people that stress is a normal part of life and can be managed with minimal panic. Students are encouraged to think about their own stress triggers and are introduced to techniques which can help them reduce negative feelings.

MAKiNG THE RiGHT iMPRESSiONAudience: Years 10 and 11Group size: Up to 30 pupils per sessionDuration: 30 minutes

A presentation aimed at Key Stage 4 students, looking at key careers topics such as writing a CV and covering letter, the necessary skills for a job or college interview, and the importance of being careful with social media.

STUDY SKiLLSAudience: Year 10 to 13Group Size: Up to 30 pupils per sessionDuration: 1 hour

We can offer a variety of sessions for KS4 or KS5 students looking at practical study skills. Examples include; Time Management, Writing Skills, Research Skills, Critical Thinking, Referencing and Revision Skills.

A BEGiNNER’S GUiDE TO APPRENTiCESHiPSAudience: Years 10 to 13Group size: Suitable for small or large groupsDuration: 30 minutes

This introductory session will provide your students with an understanding of Apprenticeships and the skills they require to prepare and to gain employment. The presentation can be delivered in schools in class or as an assembly, or you may wish to bring your students to take part in the session at Bradford College and combine the presentation with a campus tour or some tasters.

ACCESS ALL AREAS TASTER WEEK (FEBRUARY HALF TERM)Audience: Year 11Group size: Up to 15 pupils per sessionDuration: 1 – 2 hours per session

Our Access All Areas Taster Week will allow Year 11 students access to a range of subject specific tasters at Bradford College. Students will be able to book on to as many of the sessions as they like across the February half term period. This activity is perfect for pupils who are still unsure of the subject or career path they would like to pursue after school and will give them a greater insight into the possibilities and the skills required to be successful in their chosen field.

A BEGiNNER’S GUiDE TO BRADFORD COLLEGEAudience: Year 11Group size: Suitable for small or large groupsDuration: 30 minutes (plus campus tour time)

This session is ideal for those students who have already decided on a college route into Further Education (including Bradford College applicants) or for those who may still be considering whether or not Bradford College is the right choice for them. Your students will benefit from a campus tour and hints and tips on how to make the most of their time as a Bradford College student.

At Bradford College we are committed to supporting schools in raising students’ attainment, especially when it comes to core subjects like Maths and English. These subjects provide an essential foundation for their progression and success. This session aims to provide a fun and exciting approach to the subjects for even the most disengaged students.

This fun, versatile and interactive session is designed to tackle myths about lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and to raise students’

A guide to Student Finance, to help demystify and unravel student finance in Higher Education and explain how it all works – how much does it cost, how do you get student loans and how do you pay it back? All these questions and more will be answered in this fact-filled session.

THiNK YOU’RE DONE WiTH UCAS? THiNK AGAiN!Audience: Year 13Group Size: Suitable for small or large groupDuration: 30 minutes

After your Year 13 students have completed their UCAS applications, they probably think they never need to use the UCAS website again. This session will help to explain UCAS Extra, replying to offers and Clearing, ensuring that your students understand what will happen between submitting their application and enrolling on their course.

SUMMER ACTiViTiESEach year Bradford College hosts a range of free activities over July and August including subject tasters and short courses for 16-18 year olds. We will be in touch throughout the year with more information about these activities, including the Home Cooking Skills (supported by the Savoy Educational Trust) and Construction Skills short courses.

CASH COURSE: BUDGETiNG AS A STUDENTAudience: Years 12 and 13Group size: Up to 30 pupils per sessionDuration: 1 – 2 hours

This fun and interactive workshop works well as a follow up to our Student Finance session and helps students to explore how far their money will go! Students work in groups to make decisions on how they would spend their weekly budget as a Higher Education student on things like housing, food and socialising, developing their financial literacy and understanding of student life.

His theatre credits include Once in a House on Fire at The Lowry, Danny the Champion of the World at The Bolton Octagon and Romeo and Juliet for The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. Tom has worked extensively in television in appearing in well-known shows such as Coronation Street (ITV), Emmerdale (ITV), Hollyoaks (Channel 4), Mount Pleasant (Sky), Homefront (ITV), Moving On (BBC) and In the Dark (BBC). As well as being an actor Tom is a qualified lecturer and his areas of expertise include acting for camera, improvisation, audition technique and method acting.

SCHOOL TiEs THEATRE iN EDUCATiON PROGRAMMEBradford College’s Theatre in Education Company, School TIEs, can offer you and your students the opportunity to explore their future options in a vibrant and engaging way. Introducing School TIEs’ Director – Tom Aldersley, Programme Leader HE Performing Arts, Northern School of Creative Industries.

Tom is originally from Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales. He attended the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Acting Studies. Since graduating Tom has worked extensively in television and theatre.

ROLL AND PLAY THEATREAudience: Years 7 to 13Group size: Suitable for small or large groupsDuration: 1 hour to Full Day

Don’t let your pupils take a chance with their future. With the roll of a dice our HND Performing Arts students will work with your pupils to create an exciting and innovative piece of Theatre in Education that explores the issues of progression, transition and careers.Using a dice, the pupils choose random stimulus for a range of categories around progression and transition and with these, are tasked at creating a piece of theatre.

The process is exciting, dynamic, fast paced and fun. Roll and Play offers roles for all types of learners, from the shy to the extrovert. The pieces are performed at the end of the process giving pupils an opportunity to showcase their work and express themselves, resulting in a rewarding and enriching experience.Roll and Play can be adapted to your students’ needs and the specific issues they may face in regards to progression and transition. NATiONAL SATURDAY ART AND DESiGN CLUB BRADFORD SCHOOL OF ARTAudience: Ages 13 - 18 yearsGroup Size: Advanced Bookings OnlyDuration: 2 hours every Saturday

The National Saturday Art & Design Club by Bradford School of Art, in partnership with the Sorrell Foundation, is ideal if you have pupils who are currently studying or thinking of studying GCSE or A-level Art and want to improve their skills, or are thinking of studying undergraduate Art or Design at Art School and want to improve their portfolio.

The club offers 13-18 year olds a unique Art experience like no other. Your pupils will have access to outstanding Art School facilities and be taught by tutors who are highly experienced in their field.

The Saturday Art & Design Club nurtures talent, builds confidence and raises aspirations. The National Art & Design Saturday Club is now in its eighth successful year. The Club runs in 41 locations across the UK, in colleges, universities and at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Having spent a number of years as a professional boxer and trainer, Mally MacIver is now Head Coach at Bradford Police and College Boxing Academy.He’s worked with a range of students from Bradford College, including boxing prodigy Harris Akbar, who studies sport at Bradford College’s Trinity Green campus. Earlier this year, Harris was selected as part of the Great Britain Podium Potential squad, ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Last year, Mally was part of England’s coaching team at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in St Petersburg, Russia. He is also a Performance Coach with England Boxing, helping to develop elite male and female athletes in the sport.

The Student Engagement and Outreach Team works with schools, colleges and young people throughout the UK to raise awareness of the Further and Higher Education provision at Bradford College. Our aim is to inspire young people to progress to Further and Higher Education and advise them about the courses available.

Working with our team of Student Ambassadors, we organise and attend a wide range of events, both in and outside of Bradford College. We regularly attend school and college careers fairs and organise taster sessions and Open Days at Bradford College. We are committed to providing you with a warm and friendly introduction to Bradford College, our courses and our services.

STUDENT AMBASSADORSOur Student Ambassadors are an important addition to the Student Engagement and Outreach Team, providing a realistic and honest opinion of student life at Bradford College. As well as assisting at Open Days and with school or college outreach work, our Student Ambassadors help deliver Campus Tours and often represent the college at various careers events. The College’s Student Ambassador Scheme provides a range of exciting opportunities for students to develop their employment prospects by giving them hands-on work experience, as well as the opportunity to develop important life skills.
