This remote control is designed to operate most Digitaland Analog Cable Boxes, as well as TVs, and a VCR orDVD player.

Introduction

Install twoAAA alkaline batteries

as shown here

Before you program or operate the remote control, youmust install two new AAA alkaline batteries.

STEP1 Remove the battery compartment cover from theback of your remote control.

STEP2 Check battery polarity carefully, and install thebatteries as shown in the illustration below.

STEP3 Replace the battery compartment cover.

A. Quick Set-Up MethodA. Quick Set-Up MethodSTEP1 Turn on the component you want to program. To

program your TV, turn on the TV.

STEP2 Point the remote control at the component.

STEP3 Press and hold the [DEVICE] key for 5 seconds untilthe Device LED will blink once and stays on.

*Note : In this section, when you are instructed to press a[DEVICE] button, that means you should press eitherthe CBL, TV, or DVD button, depending on whichdevice you are programming the remote to operate.

Continue to hold the [DEVICE] key and press thenumber key assigned to your brand in the QuickSet-up Code Table. The component should turn offas soon as the number key is pressed. (If it does notturn off, release the [DEVICE] key and use the Pre-Programmed 3-Digit code Method or ScanningMethod.)

STEP4 Release the [DEVICE] key to save the code. TheDevice LED will blink twice to confirm that the codeis stored.

Repeat the steps above for all components (CBL, TV, DVD).

C. Manual ProgrammingC. Manual ProgrammingThe remote control can be programmed by entering a three-digit code number that corresponds to particular brands andmodels of equipment. The three-digit code numbers are listedin the code tables sections of this instruction manual.STEP1 Turn on the equipment that you want the remote

control to operate Cable Box, TV and DVD(VCR).STEP2 Press the [DEVICE] button and the [OK/SEL]

button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Thecorresponding device LED will turn on indicatingthat it is ready to be programmed. The LED willremain on for 20 seconds. The next step must beentered while the LED is on.

STEP3 Point the remote control toward the equipmentand enter the three-digit code number assignedto your brand from the code tables. If there aremore than one three-digit number listed for yourbrand, try one code number at a time until yourequipment turns off.

*Note : You can verify that you have selected the correctcode by pressing the [MUTE] button. Theequipment should turn on or off.

STEP4 Store the three-digit code by pressing the same[DEVICE] button once again. The device LED will

blink twice to confirm that the code has beenstored.

*Note : Try all the functions on the remote control. If anyof the functions do not operate as they should,repeat the instructions from Step 2 using the nextthree-digit code number from the same brand list.

D. Auto Search MethodD. Auto Search MethodIf none of the three digit code numbers assigned to yourbrand of equipment works, or the code table does not list yourbrand, you can use the Auto Search Method to find thecorrect three-digit code number for your equipment byfollowing steps:

STEP1 Turn on the equipment that you want the remotecontrol to operate (Cable Box, TV, VCR, or DVD).

STEP2 Press the [DEVICE] button and the [OK/SEL]button simultaneously for 10 seconds. The deviceLED will turn on indicating that it is ready to beprogrammed. The LED will remain on for 20seconds. The next step must be entered whilethe LED is on.

STEP3 Press the [CH+] or [CH-] button one at a time orkeep it pressed. The remote will emit a series ofPower ON/OFF code signals. Release the [CH+] or[CH-] button as soon as the equipment turns off.

*Note : You can verify that you selected the correct codeby pressing the [MUTE] button. The equipmentshould turn On or Off.

STEP4 Press the same [DEVICE] button to store thecode. The Device LED will blink twice to confirmthat the code has been stored.

STEP1 Press the appropriate [DEVICE] button and the[OK/SEL] button simultaneously for 10 seconds.The device LED will turn on for 20 seconds.

The next step must be performed while theLED is on.

STEP2 Press the [INFO] button. The device LED will blinka number of times indicating the number of eachdigit for the code. Each digit is separated by aone second interval of the LED being off.

Example : One blink, then three blinks, then eight blinksindicates the code number 138.

*Note : Ten blinks indicates the number 0.

F. F. Programming a Second TV to the DVD ButtonProgramming a Second TV to the DVD ButtonSTEP1 Press the [DVD] button and the [OK/SEL] button

simultaneously for 10 seconds. The DVD LED willturn on for 20 seconds. The next step must beperformed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [TV] button.STEP3 Point the remote control toward the TV and enter the

three-digit code for your TV from the TV codes table.STEP4 Store the three-digit code by pressing the [DVD]

button. The device LED will blink twice to confirmthat the code has been stored.

G. Programming for Advanced Functions.G. Programming for Advanced Functions.In the CABLE device mode, the A,B,C,D and blank macrobuttons can be programmed to act as a 'Macro' orFavorite Channel button. This allows you to program up tofive 2-digit channels, four 3-digit channels or three 4-digitchannels that can be accessed with ONE button press.*Note : The A,B,C and D buttons are not programmable if

you have a Digital Cable Box made by Pace,Pioneer or Scientific-Atlanta.

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button to select the CBL mode.STEP2 Press the [MACRO] button and [OK/SEL] button

simultaneously for 10 seconds. The [CBL] buttonwill turn on for 20 seconds.

STEP3 Enter the the 2, 3 or 4-digit code for the channel youwant programmed first (for example, 007) using theNumber Pad, then press the [STOP] button. Then

enter the code for the next channel (for example,050), then press the [STOP] button. Repeat thisprocess for the third channel. The [CBL] button willblink once for each channel entered.

STEP4 Press the [CH5] button to store the channels thatwere selected. The [CBL] button will blink twice toconfirm the storage of commands.

To access the programmed channels, press the[MACRO] button once. This will bring up thefirst channel. Press once again and it will bringup the second channel. Press again and it willbring up the third channel.

To erase the Macro programming and return to theoriginal function:

STEP1 Press the [CBL] button to select the CABLE mode.STEP2 Press a [MACRO] button and the [OK/SEL] button

simultaneously for 10 seconds. The CBL deviceLED will turn on for 20 seconds. The next stepmust be performed while the LED is on.

STEP3 Press the [CH+] button to erase the functions storedin the button. The CBL device LED will blink twice toconfirm that the memory button has been erased.

H. H. Assigning the Volume and Mute keys toAssigning the Volume and Mute keys toa Different Device a Different Device

By default, the VOL+, VOL- and MUTE keys operatethrough your TV. If you would like those keys to operatethose functions on a different device, follow these steps.STEP1 Press the [OK/SEL] button and [CBL] button

simultaneously for 10 seconds. The device LEDwill turn on for 20 seconds. The next step mustbe performed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL +] button. The device LED willblink.

STEP3 Press the [DEVICE] button corresponding to thedevice that you would like the volume and mutebuttons to control. The device LED will blinktwice to confirm the programming.

Example : If you wish to have the volume and mute keys

operate your Cable Box, press the [CBL]button in Step3.

I. I. Assigning the Channel keys to a DifferentAssigning the Channel keys to a DifferentDevice Device

By default, the CH+, CH-, NUMERIC and LAST keysoperate through your Cable Box. If you would like thosekeys to operate those functions on a different device,follow these steps.

STEP1 Press the [OK/SEL] button and [CBL] buttonsimultaneously for 10 seconds. The device LEDwill turn on for 20 seconds. The next step mustbe performed while the LED is on.

STEP2 Press the [VOL -] button. The device LED willblink.

STEP3 Press the [TV] button. The device LED will blinktwice to confirm the programming.

*Note : If you wish to have the channel keys operate yourCable Box, press the [CBL] button instead of the[TV] button in Step 3.

J.J. Assigning the VCR/DVAssigning the VCR/DVDD––VOD keys toVOD keys tocontrol your VCR or DVD control your VCR or DVD

By default, the REW, Play, FF, Record, Stop and Pause keysoperate VOD (Video On Demand) through your Cable Box.If you would like those keys to operate those functions onyour DVD or VCR, press the PLAY button for 10 secondsuntil the DVD/VCR button lights. To return to your CableBox control, press the PLAY key again for 10 seconds untilthe CBL button lights.

K. K. Low Battery WarningLow Battery WarningWhen the battery is low (2.3V-2.0V) and needs to bereplaced with fresh batteries, device LED will blink 2 timesin sequence whenever a [DEVICE] button is pressed toturn on equipment.

L. L. Memory Lock System.Memory Lock System.This remote control is designed to retain programmedmemory for 10 years — even after batteries are removedfrom the remote control.
