LIFE BELOW WATER

Over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. However, today we are seeing 30 percent of the world’s fish stocks overexploited. Oceans also absorb about 30 percent of the carbon dioxide produced by humans, and we are seeing a significant rise in ocean acidification since the industrial revolution. Marine pollution is reaching alarming levels, with an average of 13,000 pieces of plastic litter on every square kilometre of ocean. SDG 14 aims to sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal

ecosystems from pollution, as well as to address the impacts of ocean acidification.

The 2020 Ball has been certified as a Green Event by the Eco-Label “Umweltzeichen” from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism.

Mexican mariachi ensemble performing the best of ranchera, son de mariachi, huapango de mariachi, polka, corrido and many more. The journey through Mariachi music will transport you to the very known squares in Mexico.

¡BAILA MÉXICO!

¡Baila México! is a folklore dance group from Mexico founded in 2012. The members of the group come not only from different regions of Mexico, but also from different countries around the world and share their enthusiasm for the cultural heritage of Mexico through folklore dance. ¡Baila México!

CHRISTINA KRAWEC

American soprano Christina Krawec has performed and competed worldwide in the US, UK, Austria, China, and Spain. She has sung for various opera companies in San Francisco and won "Best Female Voice" at the 2017 International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival. Christina is an IAEA staff member and works as an open source analyst in the Safeguards Division of Information Management (SGIM).

Christina will perform the following arias:

• “Bester Jüngling” from Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor

• “Deh vieni, non tardar” from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro

• The Jewel Song (“Ah! je ris de me voir”) from Gounod’s Faust

This stunning and elegant song set soars its way through hit after Motown hit, featuring the career of Diana Ross.
