GUEST ARTISTS
Silvia Careddu made an auspicious start to her career by winning unanimously the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 56. Concours International de Musique de Genève. Following the award, Lorin Maazel invited Silvia to become Solo Flute for his newly founded Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini. She later joined the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Wiener Symphoniker and the Wiener Staatsoper-Wiener Philharmoniker as their Solo Flutist. Silvia is also a founding member of the Alban Berg Ensemble. She is also Flute Professor at the Conservatoire et Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg and teaches at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’.
Sarah Ouakrat is Principal Flute of the Dutch National Ballet Orchestra in Amsterdam and a member of the modern music ensemble Collegium Novum Zürich (Switzerland). A prominent flutist, Ouakrat is the First Prize of the IV International Flute Competition of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In addition, Ouakrat shares her time between her orchestral career, solo recitals, chamber music concerts and private coaching of young talented professional musicians.
French flutist Alexis Roman was appointed Principal Flutist of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia in 2012 by renowned conductor and flutist Patrick Gallois. A frequent guest in several Finnish and Swiss orchestras, Roman has acted as Guest Principal Flutist in the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Orcheste de Chambre de Lausanne and many more. Roman is a former flute teacher at Jyväskylä Conservatory and serves as Guest Professor in the Seiya Ueno Flute Academy in Japan. Recently Roman and Ueno recorded a new Bach duet album that will be released in the Spring of 2020.
Winner of the 2018 NFA Young Artist Piccolo Competition (U.S.A.), flutist Heili Rosin has been a successful prize winner in several international competitions. Rosin is Former Solo Flutist of the Estonian National Opera and Co-Principal Flutist in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. As an AS Artists Management Artist, Rosin spends her time performing as a soloist and as Guest Principal Piccolo in several German orchestras.
Flutist, composer, arranger and music producer, Carlos Cano Escribá transforms any stage he takes. Born in Havana, Cano is a former member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba. Later he settled in Madrid where he continuously collaborated with various orchestras in Spain. Cano is a member of the Cervantes Trio. Together they have released several albums which have been nominated for a Latin Grammy. “Por la rivera de Paquito” Cano’s last recorded album together with pianist Hernán Milla, focuses on the innovation and expansion of the flute repertoire. Cano’s transcriptions are published by Boosey & Hawkes. Cano is currently professor of flute at the Real Conservatorio de Musica in Madrid, Spain.
Mexican-American flutist Beatriz Macias is emerging as one of the most versatile figures in the scene of classical music. A Yamaha Performing Artist and Former Solo Flutist of the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, Macias has performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in Europe, U.S.A., Mexico and Asia. Currently, Macias shares her time between her orchestral career as a Principal Flutist, solo recitals as an opera singer and as an active educator.

An established flutist and poet, Johanna Kärkkäinen eagerly explores the connection between music and the arts. As a flutist, she is an active chamber musician and has performed with several orchestras in Finland such as Lahti Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Oulu Symphony Orchestra and Jyväskylä Sinfonia. Kärkkäinen is a board member of the Mirkka Rekola Association for poets and served as the Artistic Director in 2018. Her second collection of poetry will be released in the Spring of 2020.

Annaleena Jämsä works as Principal Flutist in the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009. Previously, she held the same position with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she is a member of the Oslo Kammerakademi, an Oslo-based chamber music group, and frequently guests with orchestras in Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

Iida Helanterä began her musical studies at Sibelius College in Hämeenlinna under the guidance of Tapio Hurri. She continued her studies at Tampere Conservatory of Music under Seppo Planman and Anja Voipio-Mansnerus, where she graduated with honors. In 2018, Helanterä began her studies at the Estonian Music Academy with Flute Professor Mihkel Peäsken. Helanterä has appeared masterclasses of Mikael Helasvuo, Robert Langevin, Monica Finco and Kersten McCall.
Hyemin Lee is currently pursuing her Bacherlor’s Degree at the Bruckner University in Linz, Austria with Johanna Dömötör. She is a 1st Prize Winner in the Busan Music Competition in South Korea.

Janette Leván is a student of Petri Alanko at the Sibelius Academy of Music. In 2018, she was a finalist in the Dutch International Flute Competition. Currently, Leván is the Principal Flute Substitute in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.

Polina Maltseva is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory with Valentin Cherenkov. She is the 1st Prize Winner of the 21st Century Art Competition in Vienna and has appeared in masterclasses given by Mathieu Dufour and Matvey Demin.
Helena Saks is a student of Raivo Peäske at the Heino Eller Tartu Music College. In 2019, she won the 2nd Prize at the Estonian Conservatories Music Competition.
Anete Vinkel completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the Maastricht Conservatory. She has also studied in Leipzig and Tallinn. Vinkel is a member of the Baltic Sea Philharmonic and a former Academist in the Philharmonie Zuidnederland in The Netherlands. In 2018, she was awarded the prestigious Henriëtte Hustinx Prize.

Carolina Azzola is studying at the Sibelius Academy Youth Department with Hanna Juutilainen. She has been a masterclass participant at the Crusell Festival and performed for Petri Alanko and Annaleena Jämsä.
Sooah Jeon currently studies with world renowned flutist Carol Wincenc at the Julliard Pre-College of Music. She has won numerous competitions in the United States, including 1st Prize in the New York International Music Competition and Grand Prize in the Camerata Artists International Concerto Competition.
