What’s new at wcparks?2019 has already been a busy year and we’re just getting into summer! The new Carter Wetland was created with grant funding through the Black Swamp Conservancy in partnership with our land conservation easement. The Loomis Family donated the property for the Carter Historic Farm and this wetland project was part of their vision. The wetland will be important for wildlife habitat, runoff filtration, and an educational resource about the Great Black Swamp. While you’re at the farm, meet the new sheep and enjoy stepping back in time with 1930s educational programming. We are working on outdoor play too. Check out the new tot lot at Cedar Creeks Preserve. We thought about the adults too with shade structures, indoor restrooms, and a peaceful pollinator garden. There’s always exciting outdoor recreation at the parks. Arrowwood Archery Park is free and open to all. If you are new to archery, we also offer instructional programs.

In addition, we have a new volunteer website. We hope you’ll be interested in being a part of our great conservation, education, and recreation efforts. Begin your volunteer experience with us by visiting wcparks.galaxydigital.com and creating a volunteer account. Once you are set-up, you can register for volunteer opportunities that you are interested in and start making a difference.
