2012 1 Program Development Proposal MBA and PMBA in Global Aviation Management 10 July 2012 Introduction: The specialization in Global Aviation Management in the MBA and PMBA programs is the outcome of the continuous development and expansion of the current MBA and PMBA programs of Hellenic American University. Given current faculty expertise as well as significant demand for aviation studies globally, it was apropos to develop this specialization at this time. Hellenic American University, starting with Global Aviation Management, is poised to develop several certificate programs with industry specializations. Global Maritime Management and Global Supply Chain Management should follow, thus creating a comprehensive and multi-dimensional offering in Global Transportation. The certificate programs will comprise the 3 elective courses of the MBA and PMBA programs and those students taking the certificate will be able to continue studies toward the attainment of the MBA or PMBA degrees. The same admissions criteria that apply to the MBA and PMBA programs, will apply for the graduate certificates. Initially, the certificate will be developed for e-learning delivery and, as it will be unique for Greece and the eastern Mediterranean region we expect it will capture significant first mover advantage interest. Additionally, our existing close partnerships with aviation companies in Greece (Athens International Airport, Global Aviation) will support the development of the specialization. Further and immediate expansion of the program can be attained in the US where we also have strong aviation industry partnerships (Manchester Airport, PANYNJ, MASSPORT, Alpha Flying). This document is a proposal to Hellenic American University Faculty and senior administration, for the foundation of a variation of the general MBA PMBA that focuses on issues of technology management with an industry focus in global aviation management. The program design is in-line with the mission of Hellenic American University in that it is global in outlook and applied in focus. It complements our existing PMBA and MBA offerings and requires no additional resources to implement. The new program is described below:
