Introduction

Overall description

The Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Design for Steel Decks v2.5.1 Program has an easy to use graphical interface making all inputs quickly definable. As a result, customers will be able to quickly overview important information regarding their specific project.

The input data will be evaluated by diaphragm design calculations and the result is presented in a printable report. This calculation can be used by engineers to design topped and untopped steel deck diaphragms using different fastening types. With this feature, Hilti is able to address engineers in early stages of a project, leading to knowledge and awareness of DX technology in the construction industry.

Version 2.5.1 of the software, which is described in this document, is a simplification of the earlier version based on customer feedback and internal discussions. It includes new features, such as a submittal generator option, allowing for quick and simple production of complete decking submittals.

Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Software allows users to design steel deck roof and floor systems faster with features that increase design efficiency, including calculation of diaphragm shear strength, uplift resistance, interaction, flexibility/stiffness factors and deflection. Additionally, Profis DF Diaphragm incorporates a powerful design optimization feature to help produce the most cost-effective and reliable steel deck design solution on the market.

Users can select from multiple types of frame fasteners, including Hilti deck fasteners, screws, or welds, and sidelap connectors, including the innovative Hilti SLC sidelap fasteners, standard screws, top seam welds, or button punches.

The program is based on the Steel Deck Institute (SDI) Diaphragm Design Method and includes the latest ICC-ES AC43 performance data.

The installation process is completed with the help of an external installation tool (INNO Setup). This guarantees that the Windows standard installation method is used.

The installation process contains the following steps:

1. Selection of language: Directly afterexecuting the setup program, the user canchoose the language to be used duringinstallation.

2. Hilti legal disclaimer: A dialog box withthe Hilti Legal Disclaimer is shown. Theuser has to accept the disclaimer to installthe program.

3. Definition of installation folder: In thisstep, the user is given the opportunity tochoose the folder to which the softwareshould be installed to. The folder defaultsto an appropriate folder inside the programfolder (e.g. “C:\Program Files\Hilti\Hilti DFDiaphragm”).

4. Definition of program group: Here, theuser can change the program group entryfor the start menu. If the program isinstalled from an administrator account, thenew program group for the program will beadded to all user profiles.

5. Creation of a desktop icon: In this stepthe user can choose whether or not tohave a desktop icon for the program. If theprogram is installed from an administratoraccount, the new program icon will beadded to all user profiles.

6. Option to show the release informationand start the program: At the end of theinstallation process, the user can choose toread the release information for the recentlyinstalled version of the program andchoose to start the installed programimmediately.

System startup

When the user starts the system, a splash screen will be shown first. This splash screen contains the title of the program, the Hilti corporate logo and a graphical illustration. After the initialization and startup phase of the system the splash screen will be hidden and the Main Window will appear.

Interactive tutorial

The system includes an interactive YouTube tutorial video, which provides a basic overview of the graphical user interface. Furthermore, it presents an introduction on the different inputs and the optimization process. The user can view the tutorial at any time by manually clicking the appropriate menu item in the main menu. While the tutorial is running, the user will be able to close it at any time and continue with normal use of the program. Additionally, the user can watch the tutorial in split screen mode and remain working in the software.

Right after the system starts up, a new project window will appear, allowing the user to select “Design New Project” or “Submittal Builder”. The submittal builder option is discussed in Chapter 4. All essential input data will be initialized with default values so that the user will be able to start a calculation immediately. If the option to load the last project at startup is activated, the last opened project will be loaded instead of the default project.

This chapter describes the appearance of the graphical user interface of the Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Design for Steel Decks V2.5.1 program as well as the input/output facilities. Reference the figures presented throughout this manual for screen shots representing the corresponding descriptions.

Tab key order

The tab order is defined according to the appearance of the visual components on the screen (going top to bottom and left to right). That means navigation through the input fields with the help of the tab key is possible. An exclusive utilization of the tab key is not possible and a mouse will be needed for certain operations.

Main menu

The main menu is located at the top of the main window. It allows the user to execute various functions of the program by selecting one of its items. The menu structure and the meaning of the various menu items are described in this section.

The main menu is divided into the five menus: “File”, “Report”, “Tools”, “Info” and “Help”.

File

The “File” menu contains all functions concerning file operations. All actions will take effect on the *.dia-files which save the data of a project designed in the Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Design for Steel Decks V2.5.1 program.

New: When the menu item “New” is selected, a dialog box appears with the following text: “The project has been modified. Do you want to save the changes?” and the buttons Yes/No/Cancel.1. Yes: The last changes since the previoussave procedure of the current project will besaved and a new project will be created.2. No: The last changes since the previoussave procedure of the current project will notbe saved and a new project will be created.3. Cancel: No action will be performed.

Open: When the menu item “Open” is selected, a dialog box appears with the following text: “The project has been modified. Do you want to save the changes?” and the buttons Yes/No/Cancel.1. Save: When the menu item “Save” is selected, the current project data will be saved. If the project was not saved before the same action as described in “Save As” will be performed.

Save As: When the menu item “Save as” is selected, a Windows-standard Save-Dialog will appear.

Import as design project: This menu item allows the user to import a project from the “Submittal Builder” portion of the program into the design center. The design diaphragm shear for the specified section will be imported, along with the inputs for the substituted section. This will let the user calculate uplift and deflections for projects (See Chapter 4 for more information on the Submittal Builder).

Exit: When the menu item “Exit” is selected, a dialog box appears with the following text: “The project has been modified. Do you want to save the changes?” and the buttons Yes/No/Cancel. (See Yes/No/Cancel information under “Open” above.)

Report

The Report-Menu contains functions regarding the creation of different types of reports for the current project. The various sub-items are:

The reports are displayed in a print preview. For further information about preview and printing see Chapter 3, page 12.

Tools

The Tools tab contains functions concerning global settings that influence the appearance and behavior of the program.

Project notepad: When the menu item “Project Notepad” is selected, a Notepad is opened which allows the user to view or modify project notes. These notes are automatically saved.

Options: When the menu item “Options” is selected, the Options-Dialog (See Chapter 3, page 27) is opened which allows the user to view and/or set various program options.

Online update: When the menu item “Online Update” is selected, the program connects to a defined Hilti web-server and looks for available updates for the Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Design for Steel Decks V2.5.1 program. If the connection was successful the “Online Update” dialog will appear.

Short Report: When the menu item “Short Report” is selected, a Short Report for the current project is generated and displayed. The Short Report will provide the project details, design settings, and inputs used for the calculation. It will also calculate the net uplift and diaphragm shear and check these values against the given conditions.

Long Report: When the menu item “Long Report” is selected, a Long Report for the current project is generated and displayed. The Long Report will provide the same information as the Short Report, however, the Long Report will provide step by step equations with references to complement the results. Additionally, the Long Report will include the deflection calculations if the user has already input the appropriate information regarding the deflection.

Submittal: The menu item “Submittal” is only available when the Submittal Builder mode is selected at the start of a project. See the Submittal Builder (Chapter 4) for more information.

Decking Design Center: When the menu item “Decking Design Center” is selected, the operating system’s standard browser is opened displaying the online portal website of Hilti. Click here for the Decking Design Center on Hilti Online.

Fastener Selection: When the menu item “Fastener Selection” is selected, a PDF opens which describes the applications for various Hilti products.

Tool Selection: When the menu item “Tool Selection” is selected, a PDF opens that contains information about the various setting tools.

Fastening System Videos: Currently unavailable at this time. See Hilti Online.

Approvals: When the menu item “Approvals” is selected, a sub-menu with entries for different approvals is shown. If the user selects one of these sub-menu items, the corresponding approval document PDF (Always update the software before generating a design for latest Approvals)

Submittal Forms: When the menu item “Submittal Forms” is selected, a sub-menu with entries for different submittal forms is shown. If the user selects one of these sub-menu items, they will be taken to the standard decking submittal form on Hilti online.

Safety Factors: When the menu item “Safety Factors” is selected, a PDF with additional information about the safety factors for steel deck diaphragms is opened

Installation and Inspection: When the menu item “Installation and Inspection” is selected, a PDF with information on installation and inspection is opened. This information comes from the latest Direct Fastening Product Technical Guide. (Always update the software before generating a design for latest Product Technical Guide)

Terminology and Definitions: When the menu item “Terminology and Definitions” is selected, a PDF explaining various terminologies and definitions is opened. This information comes from the latest Direct Fastening Product Technical Guide. (Always update the software before generating a design for latest Product Technical Guide)

Info

The Info tab contains informational documents about Hilti fasteners, tools, approvals, and other helpful materials.

User Manual: When the menu item “User Manual” is selected, the help-file (pdf-format) will be displayed.

Status bar

At the bottom of the window there is the Status Bar. Once the file is saved, it shows the filename and path of the current project. Furthermore, the Status Bar provides information about the currently selected design method (LRFD, LSD – Factored Loads or ASD – Service Loads) and about the currently selected relevant loads (Seismic or Wind or Other).

Toolbar

The Toolbar located under the Hilti-Logo is a shortcut to execute some of the frequently used functions of the Main Menu. The user only needs to click one button instead of searching the corresponding functions in the Main Menu.

Start New Project: Corresponds to the menu item “File|New”.

Open Project: Corresponds to the menu item “File|Open”.

Save Project: Corresponds to the menu item “File|Save”.

Open Project Notepad: Corresponds to the menu item “Tools|Project Notepad”.

Add Area: Allows the user to add an area to the project.

Delete Area: Allows the user to remove the most recent area from the project.

Open Short Report: Corresponds to the menu item “Report|Short Report”.

Generate Submittal: Corresponds to the menu item “Report|Submittal Report”.

Open Long Report: Corresponds to the menu item “Report|Long Report”.

Hilti Online: If this button is clicked the operating system’s standard browser is opened displaying the Deck Design Center on Hilti Online.

Send E-mail to Hilti: If the user clicks on this button the system’s standard email program is opened, if such a program is installed. The recipient address ([email protected]) is already filled in.

Open User Manual: Corresponds to the menu item “Help|User Manual“.

Project interface

The Project Interface represents the current project. It is subdivided into different tabs and each tab contains certain information about the project. There are always the three tabs: “Project”, “Design Settings” and “Area”. Additionally, the user can create multiple “Area” pages for the project. The user can navigate among the tabs by clicking at the top of each tab.

Project tab

The Project tab contains administrative data for the project, separated into three sections “Project Details”, “Order Details (Billing)” and “Order Details (Shipping)”. The section “Project Details” groups controls to specify administrative information, like the project name or the contractor. The “Order Details (Billing)” section and the “Order Details (Shipping)” section group controls to specify the information needed to place an order as a customer of Hilti.

Project Details:

Company: The name of the company that carries out the project

Contact: Enter name of a contact person

Address: The address of the company.

Phone: The phone number of the company.

Fax: The fax number of the company.

E-Mail: The e-mail address of the company.

Date: Type date or by click on the button in this box which will bring up a date-selector control.

Project Number

Structural Plan Sheet Number: The structural plan sheet number.

Prepared by: The name of the person/institution who is responsible for the design of the project.

Checked by: The name of the person/institution who is responsible for the project.

Design settings tab

On the Design Settings tab, the user can specify global settings used for deck design calculations and optimization per project. These include the design method and the safety factors. For this purpose, the tab contains the following controls, grouped into sections: Design Reference, Data Entry Options, Resistance/Safety Factors (Steel Deck Diaphragm), Resistance/Safety Factors (Concrete Filled Steel Deck) and Cost Optimization Parameters. Take note that the change of one of the following controls might result in a total or a partial reset of the input in the “Area” tab.

Design Settings tab

Design Reference:

Design Method: The user can choose between the three options: “LRFD”, “ASD” and “LSD (CAN)”. If the user changes the design method, the edit boxes for the safety/resistance factors (see below) will be initialized with the appropriate default values for steel decks and concrete filled decks.

Relevant Loads: The user can choose among the three options: Seismic, Wind or Others. Each relevant load needs to be evaluated separately if there are multiple loads.

Data Entry Options:

Definition of Sidelap Connectors: The method on how to input (distribute) the sidelap connectors is chosen here. The user can choose between the two options: “By Sidelap Connector Spacing” and “By Number of Sidelap Connectors”. If the user changes the definition, the corresponding edit boxes (Area Properties) in page “Area” (see below) will be adjusted. Note: Changing from one to the other option will result in a total or partial reset of the input in the “Area” page.

Cost Optimization Parameters:

State: The state where the project is to be carried out is chosen here. The user can choose between all states included in RSMeans data source. For cost estimation purposes.

City

Job Size: The size of decking in square feet according to RSMeans data is chosen here. The user can choose among the three options: “<5000 sq.ft.”, “5000-50000 sq.ft.” or “>50000 sq.ft.” (or unit-converted values).

Labor Type: The labor type according to RSMeans data is chosen here. The user can choose among the three options: “Average”, “Open shop labor” and “Union shop labor”.

Area tab

The Area tab displays detailed information about a specific area and its zones. For each area defined in the current project, one such tab exists. Within the Area tab, the user can define the dimensions of the deck (used for deflection calculations), the deck type and spacing, and also calculate deflections. Note: Changing one of the inputs on the Area tab might result in a total or a partial reset of the input as well as the zone results.

Area Properties:

Length L: The length of the area can be changed here. This control affects the deflection calculations. See diagram below for illustration.

Width B: The width of the area can be changed here. This control affects the deflection calculations. See diagram below for illustration.

Zone Orientation: This option defines how the area will be divided into zones. The user can choose between “x - Direction” (split along the x-axis) or “y - Direction” (split along the y-axis).

Calculate Deflections: If this button is clicked the “Deflection Calculation” dialog will be opened for defining the necessary inputs to calculate the deflections and to show the calculated deflections of the area of the deck. This button is enabled only if results for the zones in the area already exist.

Deck Type: This option allows the user to choose the deck type as either a steel roof deck or a concrete-filled deck. If concrete-filled deck is selected, the Drop-Down Menus “Type” and “Compressive Strength” will be initiated to allow the user to define the characteristics of the concrete. Additionally, the Edit Box “Thickness of Fill” is initiated to allow the user to enter the thickness of the fill above the top deck flute.

Sidelap Connectors from: The lower boundary for the number of sidelap fasteners per span can be defined here (used for optimization of all zones of the area). This Edit box is only available if “By Number of Sidelap Connectors” is chosen in the Drop-Down Definition of Sidelap Connectors in the Design Settings tab. Alternatively, if “By Sidelap Connector Spacing” is chosen on the Design Settings tab, the user will be able to define the lower boundary by inches.

Support Construction: The type of support construction can be chosen here. The user can choose between “Bar Joists” and “Beams”.

Joist / Beam Spacing: The spacing between the joists or the structural steel members of the support construction can be defined here.

Joist / Beam Thickness: The top flange thickness of the joists or the structural steel members of the support construction can be defined here. Note: the application range (thickness) of the frame fasteners will be internally checked based on this input and the software may filter out certain options.

Deck Panel: The steel deck panel can be chosen here. The user can choose one of the predefined deck panels.

Panel Type: The type of the panels can be chosen here. The user can choose between “Nestable” and “Interlocking”.

Panel Width: The width of the panels can be chosen here. The user can choose between the predefined widths of the deck panels.

Moment of Inertia: If the button is clicked an input table which contains four Edit boxes will be opened. The user can define the panel moment of inertia per width depending on the thickness (gauge) of the chosen panel here. Note that the default values are industry norms.

Zones

The table at the bottom of the Area tab displays the zones of the area and their properties. Each zone is represented as a separate column in this table. The entire column is background-colored in green if the optimum solution is displayed and the design shear / design uplift is greater than or equal to the diaphragm shear / net uplift. The entire column is background-colored in blue if a non-optimum solution is displayed and the design shear / design uplift is greater than or equal to the diaphragm shear / net uplift. The entire column is background-colored in red if the design shear / design uplift is less than the diaphragm shear / net uplift.

Length L: If the length is changed the length of the next zone (next column) is automatically adjusted, so that the sum of all zone lengths is equal to the length (or width if distributed in y - Direction) of the area.

Diaphragm Shear Q: Note: in case of ASD, it is the service shear load and in case of LRFD/LSD, it is the factored shear load.

Net Uplift T: The acting net uplift load of the zone can be defined here. Note: in case of ASD, it is the service net uplift load and in case of LRFD/LSD, it is the factored net uplift load.

Deck Thickness: The user can choose between one of the pre-defined thicknesses i. e. from “16 Gauge (0.0598 in.)” to “22 Gauge (0.0295 in.)”.

Pattern: The user may choose one of the pre-defined patterns depending on the deck panel.

Frame Fastener: The user may choose one of the pre-defined frame fasteners.

Sidelap Connector: The user may choose one of the pre-defined sidelap connectors.

Sidelap Connectors per span: Available if “By Number of Sidelap Connectors” is chosen in the Combo box Definition of Sidelap Connectors in the “Design Settings” tab.

Sidelap Connector Spacing: This Edit box is only available if “By Sidelap Connector Spacing” is chosen in the Drop-Down Definition of Sidelap Connectors in the “Design Settings” tab.

Design Shear: The calculated design shear strength for the configuration (solution) displayed from “Deck Thickness”, “Pattern”, “Frame Fastener”, “Sidelap Connector” and “Sidelap Connectors per span”. When the configuration changes the shear is automatically re-calculated.

Design Uplift: The calculated design uplift strength for the configuration (solution) displayed from “Deck Thickness”, “Pattern”, “Frame Fastener”, “Sidelap Connector” and “Sidelap Connectors per span”. When the configuration changes the uplift is automatically re-calculated.

Cost Index / Share: The cost index is the ratio between the total costs of the zone using the optimized (most economical) solutions for each zone and the costs of the zone using the current configuration. The cost share is the relation between the costs of the zone and the costs of the whole area. Thus, the sum of the cost shares for all zones in the area will be 1.0. When the configuration of a zone in the area changes these values will be automatically recalculated.

“Start Optimization” button

As long as the user has not selected the optimization of the area, “Deck Thickness”, “Pattern”, “Frame Fastener”, “Sidelap Connector” and “Sidelap Connectors per span” are locked and empty. Afterwards, the controls show the optimized solution and allow the user to fix certain parts of the solution to specific values/products for a follow-up optimization. For this purpose a check-box is shown for “Deck Thickness”, “Pattern”, “Frame Fastener”, “Sidelap Connector” and “Sidelap Connectors per span”, which fixes the corresponding solution part to the displayed value, if it is checked. After locking in selections, the start optimization button should be pushed again to optimize with the chosen conditions.

The optimization feature allows the user to find a Hilti solution for the decking requirements intended to optimize. An optimized solution is a combination of Hilti frame fasteners, sidelap connectors, fastener patterns, sidelap connector spacings (number of sidelap connectors per span) and deck thicknesses that satisfies the load requirements while striving for the lowest total costs.

Total costs include material costs and labor time costs. The cost calculation itself is based on RSMeans data. Only Hilti products will be considered in the search for an optimized solution.

Instead of accepting the optimized solution, the user can impose further constraints during the optimization process. To achieve this they set one or more parts of the solution to a fixed value (e. g. they select a certain frame fastener). The system then calculates the optimized solution utilizing these constraints.

Finally, the user can also choose a non-optimized solution for a zone. For this purpose, the system provides the 20 most likely cost effective solutions found during optimization and the user can select one of them to be included in the printed report.

The following parts of a solution are considered for optimization or can be set to a certain fixed value by the user:

Frame fastener: The system calculates solutions for all pre-defined frame fasteners that can be used in the given context (i.e. specified joist or member thickness.)

Fastener pattern: The system calculates solutions for all pre-defined fastener patterns that can be used in the given context.

Sidelap connector: The system calculates solutions for all pre-defined sidelap connectors that can be used in the given context.

Sidelap connector spacing / number of sidelap connectors per span: The user must specify the lower and upper bounds, as well as an increment for the sidelap connector spacing (number of sidelap fasteners per span) and the system calculates solutions for the defined range. Note that larger ranges and smaller increments may increase calculation time.

Deck thickness: The system calculates solutions for all pre-defined deck thicknesses that can be used in the given context.

The “Project Notepad” allows the user to take notes for the current project, which will be saved together with the other project data in the project file. For this purpose it contains a scrollable text box, where the user can enter the notes.

Split Zone: The currently selected zone in the table will be split to create two new identical zones of equal length/width. The results will be kept.

Delete Zone: The currently selected zone in the table will be deleted. Note: The results will be deleted.

Copy Zone Restrictions: All restrictions (certain parts fixed) of the currently selected zone in the table will be copied to the other zones in the area.

Start Optimization: The calculation of all zones in the area to find an optimized solution will be started. The “Start Optimization” button placed below the table has the identical functionality.

Other Solutions: (See Chapter 3, page 30) Choose an alternative solution for the selected zone. This is only active if the optimized solutions were already calculated for the zone.

Reset to Optimized Solution: All restrictions from the currently selected zone will be removed and the zone will be reset to the optimized solution.

Result Table: (See Chapter 3, page 31) Allows the user to generate a custom result table for the selected zone.

Options Dialog

Start Options:

Open Last Project at Program Start: If the check box is checked, the last saved project that was opened when the program was closed will be opened automatically again at program start.

Show New Project Dialog at program start: If this check box is checked, the program will always ask the user if they want “Design New Project” or “Submittal Builder” at the start up. If the box is unchecked, the software will automatically open to the design portion of the program.

Show Country Dialog at program start: If this check box is checked, the user can select either the United States or Canada (French or English) before entering the program. This is the same selection available upon initial installation and affects default languages, design methods, etc.

Show PLB: If this box is checked, Verco’s PLB deck type will be available in the Deck Panel box under Area Properties.

Language:

The language setting for the program can be changed here. The list box contains a separate entry for all available languages.

Units:

SI Units: If this button is checked the program will work with units according to the SI standard. Furthermore the radio button Imperial Units will become unchecked.

Imperial Units: If this button is checked the program will work with units according to the imperial standard. Furthermore the radio button SI Units will become unchecked.

The “Options Dialog” allows the user to set up certain environment options for the program. It is divided into the three sections “Start Options”, “Language”, and “Units”.

Area Type: The combo box Area Type allows the user to choose between Normal Area (rectangular area) and Contained Area (two areas where one contains the other completely). The Contained Area will be represented by a “three area template”.

Area Name: Edit the name of the Area.

The appearance of the “Open Dialog”depends on the operating system (OS) in use. A project file (with extension “.dia”) can be chosen from the different media devices of the computer.

In the following chapter, the functions of the system standard-dialogs that are used in the Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Design for Steel Decks V2.5.1 program are described. Report Preview Dialog

Reports

The two different reports (See Chapter 3, page 12) will be created in a Report Preview. The Submittal Builder option will be unavailable unless the Submittal Builder option was selected when beginning the project.

Save: If this button is clicked, the PDF-Export Dialog will be opened.

Zoom In: The Preview Area will be zoomed into to show more details of the report. The combo box Zoom will be adjusted accordingly.

Zoom: Select a certain zoom percentage for the report in the Preview Area.

The Submittal Builder portion of the program is similar to the design portion (outlined in the first section), but allows the user to produce a completed submittal.

Introduction

This section will be the same as the design portion of the program. See Chapter 2 for more information on Application Setup.

This section will be the same as the design portion of the software except for the Area Tab on the Project Interface. See Chapter 3 for more information on the Graphical User Interface.

Graphical User Interface

There are differences between the design and submittal builder modes found on the Area Tab. Under Area Properties, the inputs will be the same, but the user will not be able to define the Length L and Width B, or the Zone Orientation. Additionally, the submittal builder mode will not allow the user to calculate deflections. These are specific to the design portion of the software. See Chapter 3, page 20 for more information on the Area Tab Properties.

To open the Submittal Builder option, select the option “Submittal Builder” when prompted at the launch of the program. The interface will be identical to the design portion of the software, except for the Area tab.

The main difference between the Submittal Builder and Design portion of the program is in the Zones section. In the Submittal Builder mode, there is a “Specified” and a “Substituted” section.

After the “Specified Section” has been completed, the design shear is calculated for the given parameters. Next, the user can select Start Optimization to develop an optimized “substitute” solution. Alternatively, the user can manually select the thickness, pattern, fastener, sidelap connector, and sidelap spacing by checking the box next to each option. See Chapter 3, page 23 for more information on the zones and optimization.

The Deflection Calculation Dialog will not be available within the Submittal Builder mode of the software. This can only be done through the design portion of the program.

Deck Thickness: Choose between one of the pre-defined thicknesses i. e. from “16 Gauge (0.0598 in.)” to “22 Gauge (0.0295 in.)”.

Pattern: Choose one of the pre-defined fastener patterns depending on the deck panel.

Frame Fastener: Choose one of the pre-defined frame fasteners that should be used in the zone.

Sidelap Connector: Choose one of the pre-defined sidelap connectors that should be used in the zone.

Sidelap Connectors Spacing: Define the sidelap connectors spacing / per span. Available if “By Number of Sidelap Connectors” is chosen in the Combo box Definition of Sidelap Connectors in the Design Settings page.

Once the specified and substituted portions have been completed, the user will be able to produce a submittal which will include a summary sheet, detailed information for each zone, isometric roof views, and supplemental technical data from the Hilti Direct Fastening Systems Product Technical Guide.

In the Submittal Builder portion of the software, short and long reports will not be available. See Chapter 3, page 35 for more information on Reports.

The summary includes tables which state the zone name, deck panel, deck thickness, joist/beam spacing, frame fastener, patter, sidelap connection, and design shear for the given connection and proposed connection.

Next, the submittal will contain individual pages with information for each zone, which includes the inputs used, design settings, and design shear tables for the given connections. These pages are repeated for the proposed connection.

The isometric views will show the required fasteners and pattern for the deck, including the perimeter condition. The view will also show the required sidelap connectors.

The final section produced within the Submittal Builder will have supplemental technical data for the fasteners and sidelap connectors used in the design. This information is from the Hilti Direct Fastening Systems Product Technical Guide and/or ICC-ES ESR-2776.
