Dear PetroChina stakeholders,

For the last 18 years, everyone in PetroChina has applied their expertise in contributing the development of the upstream oil and gas sector in Indonesia. In those years, we have witnessed successful operation, stable production and strong support from the local communities around our working areas.

As the operator of Jabung Block, we develop mutual trust and cooperation with our partners and the Indonesian government. Our advanced technology in exploration and production is the key factor behind Jabung’s steady production for years. In 2019, we achieved the production milestone of 60,000 BOEPD.

Our commitment to safety has earned us multiple awards on safe working hours and environment. The recognition motivates PetroChina to maintain our sustainable business and environmental protection from time to time.

As Jabung Block operator, we try our best to create a notable legacy on

social contribution. PetroChina teams up with the government and other stakeholders to design community development programs that will develop local potentials.

Recently, the Indonesian government has set the production target of 1 million BOPD of oil and 12 BSCFD of gas by 2030.

In the years to come, we hope to maintain our operatorship in the Jabung Block and seize opportunities to develop other untapped areas in Indonesia. As a Chinese proverb says, “a single tree does not make a forest; a single string cannot make music”, PetroChina is looking forward to collaborating with more oil and gas players to create even more significant contributions in the energy sector development.

The Jabung Block spans 1,643 square kilometers in Jambi province. PetroChina has has been the operator of Jabung Block since 2002 following its acquisition from the block’s previous operator, Devon Energy.

PetroChina has built strategic cooperation with its Jabung Block partners, namely Petronas Carigali (Jabung) Ltd., PP Oil & Gas (Indonesia-Jabung) Ltd., PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Jabung and PT GPI Jabung Indonesia.

Jabung Block has enjoyed average daily production of 55,000 BOEPD for years. In 2018, Jabung’s peak production reached the milestone of 60,000 BOEPD.

Safety is our first priority. PetroChina is committed to maintaining balance and is ever mindful of health, safety, security and the environment.

In 2020, PetroChina was awarded with Patra Nirbhaya Karya Utama Adinugraha I from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. There are several ranks in the awarding system, with Patra Nirbhaya Karya Utama I being the highest safety award for oil and gas players in Indonesia. As Jabung Block operator, PetroChina booked 60,533,145 safe working hours without lost time incident between December 15, 2011 and April 30, 2020.

In 2019, PetroChina Jabung was among seven oil and gas contractors (KKKS) that received SKK Migas’ Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Award for the Work Safety Performance category. In the same year,

PetroChina received two PROPER Green Awards for its Betara [Gas] Field and Geragai [Oil] Field from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The Green rank highlights the company’s efforts for innovations in Biodiversity, Environment Management System, 3R Solid Waste, 3R Hazardous Waste, Water Conservation, Emissions Reduction and Energy Efficiency.

PetroChina’s Social Investment programs are designed to empower and stimulate the development of local capacities. While our main goal is to contribute more to the socio-economic betterment of the people in our operational areas, we also seek to create sustainable partnerships.

Synergy is one of the key elements in the establishment of our social programs. Referring to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development set by the United Nations and the

regional development plans of local governments, PetroChina incorporates guidelines from all levels with the company’s core values to help us make informed and effective strategies.

Over the last few years, we have made efforts to include more inclusive programs to accommodate the dynamics of social challenges.

01 EDUCATION We support the provision of adequate facilities for education, including mobile libraries that reach the most remote communities. For high school and university students in Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur regencies, PetroChina regularly provides scholarships.

02 HEALTH PetroChina is committed to improving people’s health awareness and facilities, including by providing clean water and water filtration systems for villages, health centers and health trainings. During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, PetroChina has actively worked together with various stakeholders and donated Covid-19 mitigation supplies to support first responders and locals in fighting coronavirus spread in Jakarta, Jambi and other regions.

04 ENVIRONMENT Educating young people on reducing their environmental impact is a key element in tackling climate change. We also work with local services to improve their community-based waste-management systems.

03 ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT Both Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur are gifted with many talents in the creative industry. Acknowledging their potential, PetroChina continues to make efforts to assist local businesses in moving forward. In Tanjung Jabung Barat, where the coffee industry is more established, we have worked together with local tourism services to develop a coffee-based ecotourism area. In collaboration with Geragai Agricultural Technology Park and Jambi University, PetroChina has been helping a local farmers group to establish a composting business.

We promote quality education and learning opportunities, ensure the well-being of people through the provision of public health, work hand-in-hand with local government agencies to discover untapped potential and generate economic growth, encourage the creation of

sustainable ecosystems and support the development through infrastructure projects.

PetroChina also reaches out to indigenous communities and is ready to provide emergency assistance and disaster relief when needed.

05 INFRASTRUCTURE Improving connectivity has been the focus of government programs in Indonesia in the past several years. This is also reflected in the priorities of local government programs around our operational areas. As of 2019, PetroChina has supported the construction of more than 92 kilometers of roads and bridges across Tanjung Jabung Barat, Tanjung Jabung Timur and Muaro Jambi.

07 INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT While we respect the existence and traditions of Indonesia’s indigenous communities, PetroChina believes the people deserve a better quality of life. PetroChina teamed up with the Social Affairs Ministry and various NGOs to give clean water and sanitation facilities, as well as a healthcare and education center, to the Suku Anak Dalam indigenous community in Jambi. We followed up these empowerment programs by offering workshops on developing a sustainable livelihood. In 2020, the program won the Padmamitra Award, the highest appreciation for CSR programs, in the category of empowerment program in remote areas from the Social Affairs Ministry.

06 DISASTER RELIEF PetroChina has also provided aid to several communities located throughout Indonesia when disasters have struck. The company recently donated aid to the survivors of the earthquakes in Donggala, Palu and Sigi in Central Sulawesi and Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara. The firm also launched its “PetroChina Care” initiative to collect donations from its employees. PetroChina’s headquarters funded the reconstruction of Al Abrar Mosque in Sigi following the devastating earthquake in mid-2018.
