Undergraduate FSU students who have an interest in teaching one day, as well as professionals currently working within local school districts, now have an opportunity to gain some assistance in pursuing alternative teacher certification through the College of Education’s Professional Training Option certificate program (or PTO for short). e PTO consists of 5 courses that are designed to assist candidates in working toward the Florida Educators Accomplished Practices, which are a necessary step in order to achieve teacher certification from the State of Florida: Literacy Across the Content Areas RED 4335 or RED 5337 English to Speakers of Other Languages TSL 4324 or TSL 5325 Classroom Assessment EDF 4430 or EDF 5431 Educational Psychology EDF 4210 or EDP 5935 Foundations of Teaching EDG 4321 or EDG 5208 Please visit WWW.COE.FSU.EDU/OASIS/PTO-MINOR for up-to-date information on course numbers and registration While the PTO is approved by the Florida Department of Education, it is also available as an official minor offered to those non-education majors who must complete minor coursework outside of their declared degree programs. No application is required in order to register for the required courses –sections of each of the required courses have been set aside and opened to ALL undergraduate students.
