If thinking about removing that little

plate and taking out an Allen wrench

makes you feel a bit faint, please see

your local guitar shop (where you

bought your Spector) and have themhelp you out. All Spector Basses havean adjustable rod located in the neckw

hich runs the length of the neck. Thetruss rod opposes the force exerted bythe tuning of the strings and keeps theneck from

    warping under that pressure.

All our basses from the Professional

through the U.S.A. Series also havegraphite rods that run parallel to thetruss rod and act to evenly distributethe forces of the truss rod. If sightingdow

n the neck indicates that there is aw

arp or dip in the neck, the adjustingnut should be tightened. If there is areverse w

arp or hump in the neck, the

nut needs to be loosened.A straight edge can be used todeterm

ine warp as can this little tech

tip: Play the 1st fret on any string with

the index finger on your LEFT hand. On

    that same string, w

    ith your RIG

    HT

Pinkie (your right hand should behovering over the neck, finger tipsdow

n), press down on the 12th fret

    (octave) and s-t-r-e-t-c-h your RIG

so) and press down and up and dow

    o this isnt a

    new playing style. H

    owever, if there is a

    very noticeable gap between the

    unpressed and pressed thumb, the

neck has a warp. If there is N

To Ao Ao Ao Ao Adjust It

djust Itdjust Itdjust Itdjust It:: :::

The Spector Locking Bridge is found on all basses with the exception of the

Performance Series. The design consideration is that w

hile this bridge issophisticated, it is actually very sim

ple and EASY to adjust. Another profoundbenefit of the Spector Locking Bridge is that it LO

CKS. You cannot adjust it, untilyou unlock it. O

nce adjusted, lock it and it will STAY w

here you put it. To adjust, leave the strings on the bass and tuned to norm

al pitch. Loosen the set screw on

side of bridge with Allen w

    rench. Using same Allen w

rench as above, adjust heightof each string saddle as needed to suit your playing style. Adjust the intonation ofeach bridge saddle by m

    oving the saddle away from

the neck (if the higherregister notes are playing sharp) or tow

ard neck (if the higher notes are playingflat) as needed. For optim

    um perform

ance, each of the saddles should be tiltedback tow

ard the ball end of the string at the same angle as the headstock tilt (but

opposite in direction). Tighten set screw on side of bridge and now

    the saddles will

stay in place even when strings are changed. This solid contact also adds to the

overall sustain and tone of the Spector Bass.SpectSpectSpectSpectSpector S
