    To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in response to your request for a Letter of Promise for Alexa Forster. I have had the pleasure of working with Alexa over the past three years in my role as Facilities Manager for Residence Halls with the department of Housing & Food Services (HFS) at the University of Washington. During this time, I have witnessed Alexa transition from a paraprofessional student staff member to a confident, mature young professional.

Alexa is independent and a self-starter by nature. She is a creative and solution-oriented person who is frequently able to come up with innovative solutions when needing to solve complex problems. Alexa is able to weave her excellent written and verbal communication skills with her aptitude for technology (i.e. use of Sharepoint, Google Drive, Excel) to produce timely, effective and comprehensive solutions. A most recent example of Alexas ability to blend her communication skills with technology was her creation of a much-needed live-in professional database. Alexa created a tool to allow Facilities, Residential Life, Student Services and Desk Services Units to be aware of live-in professionals apartment and office moves throughout the year. The coordination and tracking of live-in professional staff moves from community to community allows the units mentioned above to provide the highest level of customer service to our live-in professional staff; apartments and offices can be cleaned and maintained at a higher level, keys and access cards can be prepared in advance and not during a last-minute hurry and occupancy of an apartment can be recorded faster. With 15 live-in professionals to track, the creation of this database is a huge process improvement for our department.

Alexa is an outstanding team leader, but can also be a supportive, effective team member under the direction of other team leaders. Alexa works well in a team environment and has positive working relationships with several staff members across different departmental units. Alexas academic background allows her to think critically and analyze ideas objectively to provide positive and constructive feedback when working in cross-functional teams or groups. Additionally, Alexas academic and professional backgrounds have enhanced her ability to work with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds. And, Alexas knowledge and execution of soft skills (leadership, management of people, personality specific communication) sets her apart from her peers.

I am confident that Alexa will contribute positively to the field of Student Affairs. Student Affairs is gaining a polished young professional determined to provide good work for and with others. In addition to all of her quantifiable accomplishments, with Alexa, the field of Student Affairs is also gaining a person with a warm heart, willingness to serve, willingness to get the job done well and enthusiasm for creating positive change. It is a pleasure to work with Alexa and to write of her promise to serve the field

  • of Student Affairs well. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 206-221-5426.

    Sincerely,

    Lauren B. Adams
