2017/18 ConnectEd Partnership are a not for profit Schools’ company that offers a well rounded offer of services which includes

bespoke packages to suit the needs of your school/s, that will assist with school improvement, school to school support

and procurement.

Within this booklet you will see our core offer of Professional Development, the blue boxes denote those which are free

to members* as well as supplementary events and programmes that are also available at a subsidised cost, and these are

identified within the white boxes.

Our programmes are developed with partners that are quality assured and well respected. We procure facilitators from a

range of external providers as well as developing and growing our own bank of SLEs to deliver a programme that suits

the needs of our members.

Please read through all of the programme information and do not hesitate to get in touch if there are any particular areas

of support needed. We can offer bespoke packages to suit the needs of your school/s.

DRB Ignite Briefings Briefing session for Senior Leaders. Updates on current educational thinking to keep abreast of changes both imposed and

optional and to consider the impact of current initiatives.

Safeguarding Termly Briefings These termly sessions are offered to ensure school leaders are kept up to date with all current information and guidance both

locally and nationally.

Members receive one free place per termly briefing.

Basic Safeguarding Awareness Termly 'Mop Up' sessions for any new members of staff or members of staff who have not undertaken previous Basic Awareness

Training that is a statutory requirement for all school staff.

Designated Safeguarding Lead - Understanding the role of the DSL This six module programme offers knowledge, support and guidance to anyone who is taking a lead Safeguarding role in

the school environment. Each element of the programme looks into all aspects of Safeguarding leadership and how you can

develop your role, policies and procedures.

Module 1 - Introduction to the role of the DSL To give a clear overview of the roles and responsibilities of the designated child protection lead by breaking down the three key aspects

of the role which are: making referrals, overseeing training and raising awareness.

Module 2 - Understanding what abuse looks like To gain a deeper understanding of the categories of abuse in order to recognise the impact they have on children and young people.

Raising awareness of grooming processes and predatory behaviours, in order to create and maintain safe environments.

Module 3 - Identifying Child Protection Thresholds To enable the Designated Child Protection Lead to have a clear understanding of the Wolverhampton Threshold policy and actions

required for raising welfare and child protection concerns appropriately, in line with local and national guidance.

Module 4 - Recording and Effective Reporting To enable the Designated Child Protection Lead to know how to provide evidence to support safeguarding and child protection

concerns: through understanding how information should be gathered, recorded and appropriately shared, together with an

understanding of the importance of developing and maintaining detailed, accurate and secure written records of referrals.

Module 5 - Attending Key Meetings To enable the Designated Child Protection Lead to develop a clear understanding of the purpose and expectation of individuals both

attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings. Including Strategy discussions, Case conferences and Core groups, in respect of

Safeguarding and child protection concerns.

Module 6 - Developing and Maintaining Policies and Procedures To enable the Designated Child Protection Lead to be confident in developing robust safeguarding policies and procedures, in order to

run and maintain a safe organisation.

One free place on each module per academic year.

Curriculum and Development Programme As we continue to see significant changes in our schools, particularly in respect of reforms to assessment and accountability, it

is important for leaders and teachers facing these challenges to make best use of opportunities to share information,

understand implications and explore effective practice.

Lead Teacher Meetings Lead Teacher sessions enable practitioners to come together and share best practice, discuss current developments locally and

nationally and look at moderation and exemplifications.

These sessions are offered for English, Maths and Science.

Headteacher Updates Sessions for Headteachers and Senior Leaders are offered to give an update on any changes locally and nationally to ensure

that your establishment is working to current guidelines.

All sessions are free and spaces are unlimited for ConnectEd Memebers.

Non-members will be charged.

Assessment

Partners in Leading and Learning ConnectEd Partnership hold an annual conference that aims to bring Senior Leadership colleagues together to give a wide range

of opportunities that will offer time for reflection and the opportunity to network with fellow colleagues across the city.

We strive to deliver a programme that will inspire, motivate and be inclusive of all phases.

By gathering together the very best speakers and exhibitors, our Leadership Conferences are beneficial to any

leadership staff within your school.

Member schools receive two free places. Additional places available

at a subsidised rate. Non-members will be charged.

Leadership Conference

Start to Move This course aims to transform the way PE is taught to 4-7 year olds by equipping participants with the expertise and confidence to

provide children with a movement foundation for lifelong participation in physical activity. The objective of the Start to Move

approach is to develop physical literacy and children learning the ABCs of movement. Free to member schools.

Costs apply to non member schools.

School Sport

ConnectEd Partnership’s NQT programme will be delivered across the year by experienced and highly skilled school leaders,

Specialist Leaders in Education and education professionals.

The programme is designed to consolidate teaching pedagogy, develop reflection and improve teacher practice, break down all

aspects for an effective classroom practitioner in order to develop understanding and move teaching to a higher level.

All sessions will have the following themes running through them:

• Age related expectations in the subject and moving into greater depth

• Opportunities to find out about, and reflect on, practical, hands on suggestions that can be taken into school

• Appropriate links to Teachers Standards

• Effective and challenging questioning in the subject

• Consideration of the needs of all learners

NQTs attending the programme will be encouraged to develop peer support networks and to sustain relationships beyond the

duration of the programme. It is designed to complement school based induction for NQTs and consists of 19 face to face

sessions with the opportunity for NQTs to engage in more bespoke individualised professional development.

Cost: Members = £140.00 full day / £85.00 half day / £1850.00 full programme

Non-members = £170.00 full day / £100.00 half day / £2000.00 full programme

Primary NQT Programme

TOP PE Games This course helps practitioners develop their confidence and competence in teaching Games and support students to work

towards higher levels of achievement.

TOP PE Gymnastics This course helps practitioners develop their confidence and competence in teaching Gymnastics and developing the

fundamentals of movement using apparatus and simple sequencing.

Inclusive Physical Education In partnership with Sainsburys – a course to ensure all young people are engaged and challenged.

Primary Badminton This session is delivered for PE Leads and for all other staff.

To enable primary and special schools to develop a badminton club and a more inclusive approach to delivery in lessons

National Curriculum Training Programme for Swimming: ASA Level 1 This will allow staff to teach swimming alongside professionals.

ConnectEd NASENCO programme is delivered in partnership with Best Practice Network and the School of

Education’s CPD Department at Bath Spa University (BSU). It incorporates the Postgraduate Certificate in Inclusive Education

from their Professional Master’s Programme, worth the first 60 credits towards a Master’s (MA) degree.

National Award for Special Education Needs Coordinator

Our HLTA Preparation and Assessment programme helps staff to gain formal recognition and verification that meets the national

standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants. Our preparation for assessment course is delivered in line with the National

Code of Practice for HLTA, developed by the HLTA National Assessment Partnership (HNAP), a body that upholds the

continuity and quality of HLTA assessment across the country.

We will be running two cohorts for this programme and full details can be accessed through our website.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

The Role of the Educator The Role of the Educator is a facilitated visit and an opportunity to come and see Ashmore Park Nursery School in action.

Participants spend a morning in an inspiring environment to explore the use of materials, observational assessment and record

keeping. These half day facilitated visits will enable participants to see the 3 times Outstanding teaching and learning of Ashmore

Park Nursery School. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the enquiry based approach to learning and the

inspirational learning environment that Ashmore Park has become known for.

Members—£80.00 per delegate

Early Years Programme - Delivered through Ashmore Park Nursery

Early Years Network Meetings This is a set of three linked termly workshop meetings with each one looking at practical situations of learning for young children

and focusing on Construction blocks (15th October 2017) Collage (15th March 2018) and Photography (14th June 2018). These

workshops provide opportunity to see working set ups including the possibility of ‘having a go’ yourself.

Members—£75.00 per delegate per session or £200 for all 3 sessions

Making Learning Visible - Observational Assessment for NQTs or new Teachers Observation is at the heart of early years teaching and assessment but too much paperwork can mean spending less time

evolving and engaging with children's learning. This course looks at meaningful and manageable observational assessment practice

for those new or returning to EYFS.

Be inspired by loose parts - How to foster creative and mathematical

thinking in EYFS We will explore how loose parts can be used both inside and outside the classroom. Participants will examine the types of

materials and where to get them from for little or no cost and will learn ways in which loose parts can be used to foster

mathematical, creative and critical thinking.

Making and Expressing Stories, Communication, Language and Literacy in the EYFS Stories and storying is a rich part of children's acquisition of literacy skills. Educators can generate contexts for children to

develop a love and passion for stories. We will look at working with, and understanding, children's own stories and how stories

can be promoted in different ways to support learning across the curriculum.

Meaningful Maths: Increasing Opportunity for Mathematical Thinking in the EYFS The number system is an abstract concept to young children so this half day course looks at using everyday contexts to make

counting numerals more meaningful to young children. It also includes how children represent mathematical concepts in their

everyday mark-making and graphicacy.

Using Media and Materials: Creating, Making and Critical Thinking Exploring a wide range of media and materials, educators will explore how ‘the many languages of children’ interact and connect.

Drawing and Painting: Understanding Children’s Early Mark-Making and Graphicacy A half day course highlighting the importance of children's drawing and links between their representation of mathematical and

symbolic concepts in their own drawings. Participants will leave with increased knowledge to enable richer observations through

being able to understand better mark-making opportunities of their own children and increase the frequency in which their

children draw and write.

Practical Coaching Skills for Schools - 4 day course An Accredited course with optional Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring (Level 5, ILM)

The course is aimed at anyone with a responsibility for coaching in their school, anyone thinking of becoming a coach, or

anyone wanting to add accredited coaching skills training to their CV.

1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work - Level 2 First Aid Training for all staff within the workplace who require basic knowledge of First Aid at Work.

Members—£75.00 per delegate

3 Day First Aid at Work - Level 3 The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to

provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.

This QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is valid for a period of 3 years, within which time the learner will need to re-take

the course and the assessments in order to remain qualified. Members—£145.00 per delegate

2 Day - First Aid at Work Requalification The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to

provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.

This QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is valid for a period of 3 years, within which time the learner will need to re-take

the course and the assessments in order to remain qualified. Members—£115.00 per delegate

2 Day Paediatric First Aid - Level 3 The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of first

aid situations which can arise when working with or looking after children. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical

administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the paediatric first

aider. The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities,

to provide First Aid to children (including babies) when dealing with an emergency situation.
