Dress & Appearance (From the Employee Handbook)

Employee dress and personal appearance should show respect for other employees and the public, and be appropriate to the job and location at the discretion of the Supervisor. Employees who have questions about appropriate dress and appearance should speak with their Supervisor.

Dressing the High Plains Way

• Name Tags

• Attire

• Shoes

• Casual Fridays & Weekends

• Programming Days

• Pages

Name Tags

• Must be worn by all staff at all times

• Need to be clean, clear, and visible– If you need to order a new name badge please

contact the Human Resources Department

ATTIREBusiness Casual

• Comfortable

– Selections should include clothing that you can comfortably perform all aspects of your job

• Can you bend?

• Can you stretch?

• Can you stand for extended periods of time?

• Clean

• Neat– Pressed and pulled together

• Professional– While doing your normal job responsibilities, your clothing should continue to cover

appropriately

SHOES

• Comfortable & Safe– Can I wear these all day

– Can I perform my job

HPLD Don’ts

• Tank tops, Spaghetti Straps, T-shirts with non-library printing or slogans, Sweatshirts

• Holes, stains, wrinkles

• Gym-type clothes, shorts, sweat clothes

Casual Fridays & Weekends

• Jeans are acceptable when wearing a Logo Shirt or Programming (Summer Reading or Teen Read) T-Shirts

• Logo shirts are recommended on Fridays & Weekends

Programming Days

• Programming (Summer Reading or Teen Read) T-Shirts are acceptable on programming days but they should not be worn with jeans unless it is Friday or the Weekend.

Pages

• Pages are allowed to wear nice jeans and a nice plain t-shirt any day of the week.
