Professional DevelopmentHigher Level Training: Using Gizmos with Interactive Whiteboards

DescriptionUsing Gizmos® with Interactive Whiteboards instructs participants on integrating interactive whiteboards (IWB) into their teaching with Gizmos. First, teachers will become more comfortable with functionality of their interactive whiteboard and then learn how to integrate Gizmos successfully and seamlessly into instruction on any brand of IWB.

Format The course is designed as a six-hour* onsite session. Participants will use an IWB and explore its features and benefits within the context of using ExploreLearning Gizmos on them. Features and benefits will be specific to the brand of IWB already in use within the school or district. Then teachers will learn how to integrate Gizmos into IWB teaching and will learn to develop lessons using Gizmos on the IWB.

* Three-hour workshops are also available. These workshops provide more limited time for participant practice with Gizmos and IWBs.

Expected OutcomesCourse participants will:

• Become comfortable with using their IWB features and tools that relate to integrating Gizmos on this media.

• Learn techniques for engaging students using IWBs within the context of classroom instruction.

• Learn how to use all facets of the Gizmo—including the simulation, its data tables and images, the exploration guide, and the assessment questions on an IWB.

• Learn about integrating assessment tools in Gizmos and the IWB, including student response systems, if available.

• Learn how to share IWB Gizmo lessons with teachers on ExploreLearning.com.

Typical Customer ProfileUsing Gizmos with Interactive Whiteboards is designed for teachers who have completed Initial Training and have an interest in learning how to better integrate IWB technology into their teaching with Gizmos. It is designed for teachers with previous experience and training in using IWB technology.
