History of Norcross

Austin S. Norcross, a man of considerable talent and foresight, founded NORCROSS

CORPORATION over half a century ago. Given the task of solving the problem of

controlling the consistency of starch used for textile sizing, Austin Norcross invented

and patented a simple, reliable viscometer based on the falling piston principle of

viscosity measurement. So successful was this first Norcross viscometer that it

quickly became the standard for measuring viscosity in the textile industry.
