Facilities

We are located in Paterna (Valencia), in Polígono Industrial Fuente del Jarro.

We employee more than 30 workers: operators, engineers, designers,

technicians and administrative assistants. The aim of our working team is the

History

In 1935 Calderería López Hermanos S. A. started working in Valencia as a

boilers repair and maintenance workshop. Since our early days we have

worked in different sectors of this industry and have specialized in steam

boilers, developing a range of models featuring our own technology and

patents and constantly improving the performance and quality of our

products.

In 1947 our workshops began to make steam generators, which were mainly

solid-fuel and vertical, although we also produced horizontal boilers built and

installed on-site in customers’ factories. In 1956 we began to manufacture

automatic boilers with liquid-fuel burners which greatly simplified the

operators’ tasks.

Increased production made it necessary to relocate our workshops in 1965.

Our new facilities on Calle Río Escalona were far larger and enabled us to build

much bigger boilers. To give customers the best possible service, we expanded

our production departments and opened an electrical maintenance

department and a combustion machinery department and we began to build

stainless-steel equipment.

In 1972 our GVL-H boilers were certified for the first time and in 1988 the

whole boilers series were adapted to comply with UNE regulations, already

applying a gas-fuelled boiler design.

Our company’s growth in both the Spanish and international markets made it

necessary to relocate yet again, this time to Fuente del Jarro, an industrial

estate in Paterna, five kms from Valencia and our final location. Our current

5,000 sqm indoor plant 16m high, has all the manufacturing facilities needed

to produce very large water tube and fire tube boilers, enabling us to cater

for all our customers’ requirements and making us Spain number 1 boiler

manufacturer.

In 2002 Calderería López Hermanos redesigned all the equipments in

accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (“PED”

97/23/EC), receiving since then the EC seal of approval.

Calderería López Hermanos has a select group of technicians qualified to produce any type of industrial facilities in both carbon steel and stainless steel, enabling us to manufacture machinery and factory facilities where to produce steam, condensate, treated water, compressed air, liquid and gas fuel ranges of products.

We do not just make and design steam generators: we also provide boiler and pressure equipment maintenance services. Knowing that our customers’ No. 1 priority is their factory production, we do our utmost to adapt to the dates and times available for boiler shutdown.

Thanks to our electrical department with technicians specialised in burners and control panels, we can offer comprehensive, integrated maintenance.

The generator has a wet chamber completely surrounded and cooled by water. Fire-proof materials are not required on the back, resulting in higher performance and lower costs and maintenance.

The INSTANVAP “GVL-H” is a robust, compact steam generator supplied as a single package mounted on a solid bedplate for fast assembly and start-up.

• Fire-tube Steam Generator GVL-H

2.1. Steam Boilers

The GVL-H is a horizontal, three-pass fire tube steam generator with a central, interior furnace to ensure maximum heating efficiency.

There is an inspection opening and gas handhole to the rear that opens

automatically in the event of excess pressure in the furnace because it is

designed as an escape valve if gas builds up inside the furnace. This

mechanism increases the generator passive safety and also allows easy

access for the combustion chamber inspections and maintenance

cleanings.

There is a manhole at the top and inspection hatches on the front and back to enable the inspections and cleaning tasks necessary to keep the inside of the generator in good condition.

The front and back of the generator are fitted with hatches allowing access to the flues. They are fastened by screws designed to prevent them from seizing up due to the temperature. Once they are removed, the hatches are held in place by revolving hinges that make inspections and any necessary cleaning quick and easy.

The CBC Instanvap is a robust, compact steam generator supplied as a single package mounted on a solid bedplate for fast assembly and start-up.

To start the boiler, simply connect the water, steam and fuel tubes and cable the control panel.

Combustion occurs and is completed in the furnace which is completely surrounded and cooled by water. The exhaust fumes travel back through the furnace itself before entering the bundle of tubes to make maximum use of the heat and finally being vented into the atmosphere via the smokestack.

The Calderería López Hermanos S.A. range of boilers includes the three-pass CIT

water tube model featuring a delta arrangement, water walls and fire-proof

external walls.

Thanks to their configuration and design, these boilers enable high pressures of up to 45 kg/cm² that would be difficult to achieve otherwise with ordinary fire-tube boilers.

This is a three pass boiler: a first pass in where gases travel and return along the back of the furnace, followed by a second pass curving around the front, for the third pass flue gases flow before being vented via the smokestack.

The generator has one or two burners depending on its size with the respective fuel rails and separate electrical control, and a cascade-type flame control lever to make the most of thermal inertia.

The steam generator has two headers or domes where all the tubes connect up, and two or more natural circulation columns depending on the size of the generator.

The CAG model: a water tube boiler featuring tubes arranged in flat spiral coils to generate hot water. All the tube coils are connected at the intake-outlet headers. This type of boiler is ideal when little space is available for the equipment.

Thanks to our great experience in building and assembling boilers, plants and fuel farms in cogeneration plants, Calderería López Hermanos is able to build and assemble any type of plant.

The CAG model: is a water-tube hot water boiler with a spiral coil type of tubes layout in vertical arrangement. All the tube coils are connected at the intake-outlet headers. These collector headers are placed at the surface, outside the fumes circulation area.

In the case of a solid-fuel chamber, turbine or motor, we also take into account the type of fuel, the space available for the boiler, etc, to get a full picture of the boiler required.

This water tube boiler has a wall of water tubes with carbon or stainless steel fins and two pumps or small boilers, one at the top and another at the bottom. It provides a very large heating area in a very small space which makes it very useful for plants with little horizontal space. It can also be fitted with an economizer and superheater to cater for factory requirements.

Thanks to our great experience in building and assembling boilers, plants and fuel farms in cogeneration plants, Calderería López Hermanos is able to build and assemble any type of plant.

Specially designed to recover the residual heat from combustion gases as they go through the smokestack of a boiler. Transfer technology enables the boiler intake heat to be used. These tailor-made boilers are suitable for boiler smokestacks of any shape. Individual designs and calculations are done in each instance to maximize heat efficiency and energy savings.

Boilers of this type have several advantages:

A pressure condenser system is a group of elements that increase the performance of steam generators by reducing fuel expenditure and improving the quality of water by treating it inside the system’s own circuit. The direct outcome is an increase in the machine’s useful life.

They differ from atmospheric condensate storage tanks which lose considerable amounts of water and energy when condensate enters the tanks at temperatures above 100ºC due to evaporation. Since the new system is pressurised, virtually all the condensate is re-used, thereby minimising water and energy losses.

In comparison with an atmospheric system using boiler feed water at 80ºC, the fuel saving obtained by a pressure condenser system when the temperature is increased would be:

Our LGD gas scrubbers are designed to protect the environment from the products of hydrocarbon combustion generated by machines running on fossil fuels, e.g. steam generators, furnaces, thermal oil heaters, solid waste boilers, etc.

Gas scrubbers are fitted to the combustion device chimney. If necessary a new AISI-316-L stainless-steel chimney can be installed using stainless-steel hardware.

In addition to the scrubber, the system also features:

AISI-316-L stainless-steel sedimentation tank featuring cut-off screens causing the sedimentation of solid particles. As a result, when recirculation recommences, the water is already free of soot and solid residue.

The tray-type deaerators can reduce non-condensable carbon

dioxide concentrations up to the lowest levels (0.007 ppm) in

dissolved feedwater to prevent from corrosion problems in the

equipments and installations.

Our industrial and agricultural storage tanks are designed according to the pressure and temperature requirements of the circuit for which they are intended and the type of fluid to be stored or distributed.

Depending on the specific needs in each instance, we can manufacture large storage tanks with thick walls in iron calibres ranging from AISI-L stainless steel to S235JR low-carbon steels. Calderería López Hermanos apply the thermal and surface treatments required by the customer or engineering survey.

The storage tanks usually made on our premises can be atmospheric, pressurised or vacuum and be used for water, steam, oil or chemical products.

MAINTENANCE We do not just make and design steam generators: we also provide boiler and pressure equipment maintenance services.
