PRODUCTInstallation of a Low Frequency Underwater Locating Device (LF-ULD)
A318/A319/A320/A321
DESCRIPTIONCAT.IDE.A.285(f) (COMMISION REGULATION (EU) 2015/2338) makes installation of a underwater locating device operating at a frequency of 8,8 kHz ± 1 kHz mandatory by the 01 Jan 2019, unless the aeroplane is operated over routes on which it is at no point more than 180 NM from the shore.
The purpose of the LF-ULB is to assist search and rescue teams in locating aircraft wreckage undersea.
Two brackets are attached to the aircraft structure onto which an adapter panel is installed. The LF-ULB is mounted to the adapter panel.
BENEFITS• 100+ installations completed.• Location of the LF-ULB is the same as the Airbus build
standard, maintaining commonality with factory fitted aircraft.
• The installed Novega SID88 LF-ULB is the same as the Airbus build standard, maintaining commonality with factory fitted aircraft.
• Installation time <4 hours for one mechanic.• The LF-ULB, all parts and fasteners required to perform
the installation are supplied as a kit allowing for efficient planning and material management.

DESCRIPTION21jAeroDesign’s AP120-0012-001 High Vis RBF Flag was developed in response to an EASA Airworthiness Directive with Safety leading the design. Our High Vis RBF Flag is effective in all lighting conditions, however shows the biggest advantage over legacy flags in reduced visibility or darkness.
BENEFITSWith its highly visible edging, 21jAeroDesign’s AP120-0012-001 High Vis RBF Flag offers operators a low cost means of increasing the visibility of tooling used in variable lighting conditions, or simply as a straight replacement for legacy flags.
As opposed to the cumbersome legacy ‘split ring’ our High Vis RBF Flag is fitted with a clever ‘Cable Ring’ that can be either openable or permanently swaged closed.

APPLICABILITY
PARTS
DESCRIPTIONOperators of CFM56-5B powered A320FAM aircraft have experienced severe corrosion damage effecting the thrust reverser adapter ring, in particular the four lower flange segments at positons #7, #8, #9 and #10.
21jAeroDesign’s mission has not been to simply reverse engineer, but to re-engineer, offering a cost-saving replacement part while eliminating the reliability problems associated with the OEM part.
Through detailed failure analysis 21jAeroDesign has identified four key deficiencies with the OEM part, each of which has been systematically corrected through meticulous attention to the design specification.
BENEFITS OF REPLACEMENT PART• Two-way interchangeable with all OEM part number variants.• Precision machined for an exact fit = no use of clamps to install
= no residual stress.• Base metal carefully selected for its high resistance to stress corrosion cracking & immunity from exfoliation corrosion.• Structure protected by anodising and a tough layer of adhesive
primer.• Anti-fretting polyamide epoxy paint applied at interface with the engine acoustic panels to prevent wear and penetration of surface protection.
HIGHLIGHTS • Direct replacement for all variants of OEM segments #7, #8,
#9 and #10• In service since August 2017• In service with Europe’s biggest operator of A320• High resistance to stress-corrosion cracking with immunity
from exfoliation• Significantly improved surface protection
