DESCRIPTION

The MPAF Series of Surge Protection Devices provide utility grade protection against damaging tran-sients and surge events. These products are UL and cUL® listed to 1449 Edition 3 as Type 1 devices. They have a 200 kIAC interrupt rating so they can be installed on services capable of up to 200 kIACfault current. This allows them to be installed on the line or load side of the service panel inaccordance with the NEC® 2011 without the requirement for additional circuit breakers or fuses.

Primary applications are service entrance, branch and OEM panels UL 96A lightning protectioninstallations and light pole applications. The housing is constructed of UV-stabilized thermoplasticand designed to meet the UL 50 Type 4 rating, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor NEMA 4Xapplications.

SPECIFICATIONS

ORDERING INFORMATION

The SS400HW is a rugged highly reliable hardwire surge protector for residential or commercialstandard 120/240V single (split) phase applications.

The SS400HW features totally solid state construction for long term reliability and quick response tosurges. Two advanced, commercial grade metal oxide varistors (MOV) are the primary protectiveelements. These MOV's are each capable of handling 40,000 Amps of surge current. The protection components are designed to fail shorted and are fused. After a typical surge, the sup-pressor automatically recovers and is ready for the next surge. In a rare event of MOV failure, thefuse opens and the indicator LED turns off.

SERVICE

The HSP121BT-1RU is an advanced 3 stagehybrid, solid state power line protector. Featuressuch as noise filtering, common mode and nor-mal mode suppression, nanosecond reactiontime, power line tracking, and compressionscrew terminations, make the HSP121BT-1RUan excellent choice in commercial and industrialapplications.

The HSP121BT-1RU offers a replaceable fusedes igned to remove the load (pro tectedequipment) from the line if the unit is either over-loaded or the internal protection fails. This fea-ture prevents surges from entering equipmentthrough a failed protector, not noticed by the user.Unlike models with only an indicator, which maytake weeks to notice, the HSP121BT-1RUdemands immediate attention upon the unlikelyoccurrence of internal failure.

1. Mount HSP121BT-1RU in a UL Listed housing.2. Make sure wiring from power sources properly connects to line side of HSP.

Wiring from protected equipment must properly connect to EQUIP side of HSP.3. Indication of internal failure:

a. Indicator will extinguishb. Fuse blown will disconnect load from power source.

WARNING: For continued protection against risk of fire, replace only with same type rating of fuse.

4. Connect only to 120 VAC, 15 Amp max., single phase, three wire circuit.

DESCRIPTION

VSS20-G Multi Stage Suppressor

The VSS20G suppressor is a specialmult-stage suppressor designed to beused in extreme locations such as outdoorpower cabinets and gate controller cabi-nets. Its multi-stage design provides theabsolute lowest clamping voltage com-pared to single stage designs. The VSS20G utilizes Patented X-Coildesign (US Pat #7,085,115) which allowsnormal current flow without overheatinglike a normal surge coil. This allows acompact design along with ability to han-dle up to 20 amps of current. Its circuitry absorbs and reroutes surgeenergy to ground or, in the event of cata-strophic surge, completely disconnectspower. The surge circuitry uses the latest TMOVsurge elements which incorporate internalthermal disconnects for safety. The VSS20G includes an external groundbar that can be used to add suppressionmodules for data, vehicle loop dectors, weighing scales, telephone, gate accesscards, etc. This provides a single pointground for all surge devices.

HCO Series modules are fused solid state sec-ondary protectors for Key/PABX C.O. (CentralOffice) trunk pairs. The units are available in twodifferent circuit configurations. The HCO is con-structed with solid state silicon avalanchefoldback technology and fuses. The HCO fea-tures solid state silicon avalanche foldback tech-nology and polyswitch resettable fuses - PTC's.These protection modules are intended to beused in conjunction with proper primary protec-tors (UL 497). The circuitry is designed for pairswith ring voltage present, and incorporatesovercurrent protection required by UL 497A. Theprotective elements switch from the normal highimpedance state to a low impedance state upondetection of a surge, then switches back to highimpedance after the surge has passed.

The HCO and HCO fit onto a standard M1-50split block and replace the bridging clips. Inaddition these modules require the EDCO MGBground rail for each M1-50 Block used.

For digital or analog internal extension lines, order the HDE or HAE suppressor.

Application: General UseTelephoneThe FAS-TEL and FAS-31XT are single pair telephone or data line protectors that implementadvanced two stage hybrid design. These units address over voltage transients with siliconbreakover devices, while sneak and fault currents are mitigated with new "PTC" technology whichconsist of solid state re-settable fuses.

FAS-31XT replaces the RJ31X jack with a protected version. Four screw terminals are provided towire the protector in the same manner as a standard RJ31X jack. The FAS-31XT can be used aloneor as an accessory to a plug in surge protector. Use a plug in protector that will provide a convenientgrounding point for the FAS-31XT / FAS-TEL ground wire.
