KONDININ LAKE PENTATHLON
The weather turned it on for the inaugural Kondinin Lake Pentathlon held on Saturday 1st April 2017. We were very fortunate that Mike from Sunset Stand Up Paddle was able to come along and provide lessons for the participants in the ‘SUP’ leg of the Pen-tathlon and for others after the event. Five teams entered the event which comprised an 8km bike ride, a 3.5km run, a 3.5km kay-ak, a 500 metre swim and a 200 metre paddle board. Team ’Double M Triple G’s’ comprising Brett Graham, Bronwyn Murray, Ryan Manson, Sheridyn Graham and Jaxon Graham’ led the event at the first change over from the bike with a good start from Brett Graham, and kept the lead for most of the event coming in victorious in 94 minutes. A huge thank you to Kelly Browning for coordinating the day and making the trophy and to all the volunteers including Kylie Collard at the water station, Philip Browning at the bike turn around, Ellen Valenta at the registration desk, Naomi Graham, Toni Smeed, Mary Browning and Yvonne Boxall doing the timing and certificates, Paul Ardagh for cooking the BBQ and Blake Stubna for directing the kayakers. Thank you also to all the participants who entered a team at quite short notice and to all the spectators that came down to cheer everyone on. It was great see the range of ages competing in the event and coming out to enjoy all the water in the lake at the moment. Thank you also to Jenny Hardy for taking the photos. If the lake stays full by next summer - look out for another similar event coming your way! If anyone is interested in purchasing a SUP boar contact Mike on [email protected] or 0409 666 653.
