2019 “MAKE-A-DIFFERENCE”

PROCUREMENT EXCELLENCE AWARD

Do you know a Procurement Professional who has made a significant

contribution to the procurement profession in Alaska or Hawaii? If so, nominate

them for the 2019 AHGPA “Make-A-Difference” Procurement Excellence Award.

Nominees for this award must exemplify their commitment to the

procurement profession through sharing of their procurement knowledge and

resources, contributing to the advancement of the procurement profession, and

elevating the level of professionalism applied to procurement activities while

legitimizing and strengthening our profession.

NOMINEE’S ACHIEVEMENTS To be eligible for the 2019 Award, the nominee shall identify success in the following areas: 1. Contributions made to advance the purchasing profession during the nomination year or

career of the individual. This could be financial, strategic, innovation, or sustainability of new projects.

2. Contributions to the entity he/she serves during the nomination year. 3. Other procurement related activities during the nomination year. 4. Contributions and achievements for professional development during the nomination year. 5. Employed position in which the nominee served during the nomination year.

The list of contributions must be for activities initiated between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019. AHGPA “MAKE-A-DIFFERENCE” PROCUREMENT EXCELLENCE AWARD INFORMATION Objective: The purpose of recognizing an individual through this award is to encourage the advancement of procurement excellence and innovation within procurement organizations in the States of Alaska and Hawaii. Such individuals exemplify commitment through their own work, sharing knowledge and resources, legitimize and strengthen the procurement profession and contribute to the advancement of the procurement profession with our two States.

Award: The Procurement Excellence Award is bestowed for a member of AHGPA who made a significant contribution to the procurement profession within the States of Alaska or Hawaii. The contribution can be over a period of time, such as a distinguished career in the field of procurement, or for a program or innovation that has made a difference for the better in the procurement organizations we serve. We must be better off for the work the awardee has accomplished. Eligibility: 1. Nominees must be an active member of the AHGPA for the entire nomination year. 2. Nominees must be actively employed in public purchasing for the entire nomination year. 3. Awardees are not eligible for the same award for a period of three years. 4. AHGPA members (self-nominations are accepted), Member’s Organization, NIGP, and

other procurement related entities may submit a nomination. Review criteria for selection of Awardees: 1. List of contributions made to advance the purchasing profession during the nomination year. 2. List of contributions to the entity he/she serves during the nomination year. 3. List of other procurement related activities during nomination year. 4. List of contributions/achievements for professional development during the nomination year. 5. Employed position in which the nominee served during the nomination year. Timeframe of nominations and awards: 1. Awards will be announced in January of the following year for the previously completed

year. 2. Nominations will be accepted starting October 1 through November 30 of each year. 3. Awardees will be recognized in the First Quarter following the completed year. 4. AHGPA Awardees will be entered into the NIGP Awards program.

Selections and Policy adoptions/edits: The President during the nomination year may award, may select serving officers or may choose a committee of no more than four persons who are AHGPA members to serve and make awards. The AHGPA Board may adopt, edit or suspend this policy as needed from year to year.
