What is Google Earth?

• Created by Keyhole Incorporated• Google Earth and Google Earth Pro• Available on:– Windows 2000 +– Mac OSX 10.3.9 +– Linux kernal 2.6– FreeBSD– iPhone OS– Android

Search for Locations & Businesses1. Click on “Fly to” tab. This will open the search

panel.2. Enter the name of the location into the input

box.a) Location can be any of the following:• Country, State, City, Zip Code, Landmark, Address,

Latitude and Longitude Coordinates

b) Examples:• United States, Maryland, Baltimore, 21250,

UMBC, 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250,39° 15 19.8″ N, 76° 42 40.52″ W′ ′

3. Click Search.a) This will zoom the map to your search location

4. Click “Find Businesses” tab.5. Enter the name of business or type of

business.a) Example: Papa John’s or Pizza Restaurantb) Search will show top 10 business listings for the

type of business within the previously searched location

6. Click any business location to display a placemark balloon.

7. Click the link for the location in the placemark balloon to surf the business website within Google Earth.

a) In some cases, the website may open in a separate browser

8. Click back to Google Earth to return to the map.

9. Click the “To Here” at the bottom of any placemark balloon.

a) This allows you to search for direction to the business’s location.

b) This automatically inserts the business address into the “To” field in the directions tab

10. Enter your starting location.11. Click search for suggested route information

a) Search panel will automatically gather your recent searches temporarily.

12.Double click any previous searches to revisit those locations

13.Drag any of the temporary searches into “My Places” to save your favorite search results.

14.To clear your results, click the clear button or “X” to clear the search panel results.
