User Prototyping
Nick Petranic
Bandcamp moblie app
ConceptMy concept is a mobile application companion for bandcamp.com. my audience is users looking for independent music directly from the artist. Idecided to make the UI similar to many other music applications. But this application searching and finding new music is the primary goal. Users can also keep track of new music they find by adding it to a collection.

User Testinghello my name is nick. would you mind testing my phone application for music.
have you ever wanted to listen to music for free with out commercials every fifteen minutes or so?
have you ever wanted to find music straight from the artist?
have you wanted to listen to music on your mobile device?
This application is called bandcamp. much like its web companion it will help discover new music and let you stream it for free. as well purchasing music and other merchandise from the artist directly. it also allows you add music to a collection stored locally on your device. The home screen is where you can search for new artists by genre, album name, location, and any tag. you can access this in app at anytime by pressing the search button located at the bottom
of the app in the center.
if you wanted to find a new folk artist how you search for that?
where would start from home page?
select an artist you would like to listen too.
FindingsSince my application is fairly straight foreword,
user testing was as well. I did not received much negative feed back. I feel as though this is because i have made the UI similar to other
music application that we use on a daily basis.
ReflectionsI think the most important thing I learned in this class in to be able
to let go and let the user design the product. After all I am not the user. I found that be very difficult as well. I enjoyed the bit of code
that we did do. Admittedly at first I was not looking forward to it, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Now I am designing for page or the web i think of the user. For example earlier this semester when binding a book I tried use a Japanesse stab binding but after making a proto-
type I discover that you must hold the book to keep it open which seemed to take away from the book. Needless I feel like I have and
will apply these idles of planning within my design.
