1.0 IntroductionThe present procedure, detail the steps to follow in order to

determine a Geotechnical Red Alert conditions andimplement the evacuation of personnel and equipmentsuccessfully as prevention measure. This procedure appliesin all MYSRL pit walls where the monitoring system isoperating.

2.0 Goals- Define the criteria to emit a geotechnical red alert

caused by slope movement or a big scale seismicevent (earthquake)

- Establish the step to follow in order to evacuate

personnel and equipment in case of a geotechnicalred alert.

- Avoid equipment damage and personal injuries incase of an occurrence of slope failure.

- Establish safe zones to be used as refuge ofpersonnel and equipment.

- Keep a safe operation which maximizes therecovery of ounces.

- Define the correct approach in order to finish ageotechnical red alert.

3.0 ScopeApplicable to all personnel and equipment whichoperate in MYSRL pits and receives an evacuationsignal by Geotechnical Red Alert issued by SecurityControl Center.

4.0 Definitions- (1) Displacement: Three-dimensional movement

of a mass relative to a reference point

- (2) Slope Instability: Stage of slope deformation,which is characterized by the development ofcracks and cumulative movements that undercertain conditions could generate a failure. Theinstabilities no necessarily could become in afailure and also could be provoked by seismicevents of big magnitude (earthquake).

1.0 IntroduccinEl presente procedimiento detalla los pasos a seguir para

implementar la evacuacin de personal y equipos comomedida de prevencin. El procedimiento aplica a todas lasparedes de los tajos de MYSRL donde el sistema demonitoreo estimplementado.

2.0 Objetivos- Establecer los pasos a seguir para evacuar

personal y equipos en caso de presentarse unaalerta roja geotcnica.

- Evitar daos personales y a equipos en caso depresentarse un deslizamiento de talud.

- Establecer zonas seguras para ser usadas comorefugio de personal y equipo.

- Mantener una operacin segura que maximice larecuperacin de onzas.

- Establecer pasos para levantar una alerta rojageotcnica.

3.0 AlcancesAplica a todo el personal y equipo que opera en lostajos de MYSRL.

4.0 Definiciones- (1) Desplazamiento: Movimiento tridimensional

de una masa respecto a un punto de referencia.- (2) Inestabilidad de Talud: Estado de

deformacin de un talud, que se caracteriza por eldesarrollo de grietas y movimientos acumulativosque bajo ciertas condiciones pueden generar unafalla. Las inestabilidades no necesariamente seconvierten en el futuro en fallas y tambin pueden

ser producidas por eventos ssmicos de granmagnitud (terremotos).- (3) Falla General de Talud: Es un evento de

movilizacin de material a gran escala, puede serrepentino o lento, dependiendo de la resistenciadel material y las condiciones del agua,representa un peligro para la integridad fsica depersonal y equipos que operan cerca.(4) F ll d T l d Ni l d B E

Green Condition (7):no significant displacementsare within the tolerance range.Condition Yellow (8):significant displacement couldindicate an unstable condition should beimmediately reviewed by the GeotechnicalEngineer.Red Condition (9):Displacement critical condition

indicating a movement of slope to be confirmed bythe Geotechnical Engineer to proceed immediatelywith the respective evacuation.

6.1.2 Dispatch Communication.Dispacth receives information in real time fromWeb GeoMoS systems and radar. In the Greencondition, the operation will continue normally, if ayellow or red status shall be communicated toSGS.

6.1.3 Evaluation of Geotechnical Guard SupervisorGeotechnical monitoring equipment consists of

specialized real-time 24 hours day, 365 days year.Geomos and radar systems are connected toDispatch and Geotechnical department who haveimmediate access to the activation of an alert.In the event of a yellow or red status, Dispatchnotified via telephone at SGG who based oninformation from monitoring equipment andinterpretation of the trend will confirm or rule out acritical condition Dispatch to proceed with theevacuation of personnel working in the areaThis initial condition warning must also becommunicated by Dispatch the chief OperationsGeneral Mina phone so that it is helpful to confirmthe evacuation order is confirmed by theGeotechnical Engineer.

6.1.4 Issuance of the Red Alert by SCC.Then receive the information from GeotechnicalEngineer, the Dispatch will proceed to broadcast aradio message announcing the geotechnical redalert in the Pit and the immediate evacuation (11).

This message should say(example):Attention, all personnel in the area ofoperations, notifying them of the activation ofthe geotechnical red alert, please proceed withthe evacuation to the nearest refuge areas andshould be emitted in each operation radial channel.

6 1 5 Reception of the Message

Condicin Roja (9): Desplazamiento crticos queindican una condicin de movimiento de talud quedeber ser confirmada por el Ingeniero deGeotecnia de forma inmediata para proceder con laevacuacin respectiva.

6.1.2 Comunicacin de Dispatch.Dispacth recibe informacin en tiempo real,proveniente de los sistemas Geomos Web y Radar.En la condicin Verde, se seguir con la operacin

en forma normal, en caso de una condicin amarillao roja se proceder a comunicar al SGG.

6.1.3 Evaluacin de Supervisor de Guardia deGeotecnia.

El monitoreo geotcnico consta de equiposespecializados en tiempo real durante las 24 horasdel da y 365 das del ao. Los sistemas Geomos yradar estn conectados a Dispatch y aldepartamento de Geotecnia quienes tienen acceso

inmediato de la activacin de una alerta.En caso de presentarse una condicin amarilla oroja, Dispatch comunicar va telefnica al SGGquien en base a la informacin de los equipos demonitoreo y a la interpretacin de la tendencia seencargar de confirmar o descartar una condicincrtica a Dispatch para proceder con la evacuacindel personal que est trabajando en la zona. Estacondicin inicial de alerta tambin deber sercomunicada por Dispatch al Jefe General deOperaciones Mina va telefnica para que seencuentre atento a la confirmacin de la orden deevacuacin en caso se confirme por parte delIngeniero de Geotecnia.

6.1.4 Emisin de Alerta por Centro de Control.Luego de recibir la confirmacin del Ingeniero deGeotecnia, Dispacth proceder a comunicar al CCSpara la emisin de un mensaje radial anunciando laalerta roja geotcnica en el tajo y la evacuacin(11). El mensaje deber decir (ejemplo): Atencin

a todo el personal en el rea de operaciones,se les comunica la activacin de la alerta rojageotcnica, favor de proceder con laevacuacin a las zonas de refugio mscercanas y deber ser emitido por todos loscanales radiales de operacin.

The equipmentover wheels will evacuate using their ownpropulsion, and any equipment over tracks will stayin the same place and their operator should beevacuated by a pick up.All personnel entering the mine operations areamust have a means of transportation to evacuate incase of activation of a geotechnical red alert.

6.1.7 Geotechnical Evaluation.After all the personnel and equipment are locatedin a safe zone, the MOGF will coordinate a fieldinspection with the Geotechnical Field Supervisor(GFS), whom will evaluate the stability conditionsand monitoring updating. In case of confirmation ofcertain conditions which indicate high risk for anevent of general slope failure, the red alert will bemaintained, and will continue making evaluationsand reports each hour to MOGF, describing the

evolution of the instability conditions. In case ofacceptable stability conditions are verified after theinspection (could be false alert due to bad weather,bench scale failure (3), or a relaxation movementdue to rapid excavation), the red alert should befinished and will be necessary to proceed with theend alert procedure. In case of absence ofGeotechnical Supervision, the MOGF will make thisevaluation.

6.2 End Geotechnical Red Alert Procedure.

6.2.1 Communication Post GeotechnicalEvaluation.

After the end of the geotechnical evaluation and incase of acceptable conditions is verified in the field,GFS will proceed to communicate the fact toMOGF.

6.2.2 End of Geotechnical red AlertThe MOGF after receive the information from the

GFS, will proceed to communicate the fact to theSCC, which finally will broadcast a radial messagewith the following content(example):Attention, allpersonnel in the area of operations, reportedthat the red alert is raised on the sitegeotechnical Quinoa, all personnel andequipment may resume their normal work

Losequipos sobre ruedas debern evacuar por suspropios medios, los equipos propulsados pororugas debern permanecer en el lugar y susoperadores debern ser evacuados en camioneta.Todo personal que ingrese al rea de operacionesmina debe contar con un medio de transporte paraevacuar en caso de activacin de una alerta roja

geotcnica.

6.1.7 Evaluacin de Estabilidad por Geotecnia.Luego de que todo el personal se encuentre en unazona segura, el JGGOM coordinar una inspeccinde campo con el SGG, el cual evaluar lascondiciones de campo y la actualizacin delmonitoreo. En caso se confirme la existencia decondiciones que indiquen alto riesgo de un eventode falla de talud, se mantendr la alerta roja, y se

continuar evaluando y emitiendo reportes cada 30minutos al JGGOM, describiendo las evolucin dela condicin de inestabilidad. En el caso que luegode una inspeccin se verifiqu condicionesaceptables de estabilidad (podra tratarse de unafalsa alerta por error de lectura por mal clima, deuna falla a nivel de banco (4), o de un movimientode relajacin por excavacin), se proceder con ellevantamiento de alerta roja geotcnica. En casono se cuente con supervisin geotcnica, elJGGOM, quien deber tener conocimiento previode esta ausencia, se encargar de realizar estalabor.

6.2 Levantamiento de Alerta Roja Geotcnica.6.2.1 Comunicacin post Evaluacin Geotcnica

Luego de la evaluacin geotcnica, y en caso seencontrarn condiciones aceptables de estabilidad,el SGG, proceder a comunicar el hecho alJGGOM.

6.2.2 Levantamiento de Alerta Roja Geotcnica.El JGGOM luego de recibir la informacin delSupervisor de Geotecnia, proceder a comunicar elhecho a el CCS, el cual finalmente emitir unmensaje radial con el siguiente contenido(ejemplo): Atencin a todo el personal en elrea de operaciones La Quinua, se comunicaque se levanta la alerta roja geotcnica en el

7.0 Comentario final.La aplicacin correcta y efectiva del presenteprocedimiento permitir minimizar los riesgos deprdida producida por fallas de talud a gran escala,o por una movilizacin de material producida por unevento ssmico, permitindonos trabajar conseguridad para el personal y equipos.
