The Services correctionnels of the Ministère de la Sécurité publique du Québec are responsible for your community s u p e r v i s i o n . Supervision aims at ensuring that you adopt law-abiding behavior and that this is your last encounter with the judicial system.

What Is a Probation Order with Supervision? A probation order is a sentence imposed by the judge as the result of the offence that you committed.

It is subject to mandatory conditions, including reporting to your probation officer and following his or her instructions.

The probation order with supervision also includes specific conditions to help with your reintegration (e.g. : undergo therapy). You must comply with these conditions during a specific period of time.

The probation officer can involve a correctional officer or a community caseworker. He or she will therefore instruct you to meet with this individual regularly, who will report to your probation officer on your progress.

Under the provisions of your order, you must also keep the peace and maintain good behavior. Indeed, these responsibilities are incumbent upon all citizens.

Why a Probation Order with Supervision?The judge considered that you would benefit from commu-nity supervision as part of your sentence.

The probation order provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate that you can function appropriately in society. By complying with your obligations and embarking on a reintegration process, you are assuming the consequences of your act.

You will regularly meet with your probation officer or the appointed caseworker to take stock of your situation. You will benefit from his or her advice and support.

Stakeholder Responsibilities

Mandate of Services correctionnelsServices correctionnels are responsible for your supervision. In practical terms, this means it must:

Assess you to have a more accurate idea of your needs. Establish an intervention plan adapted to your needs and that you will comply with; support you in your progress.

Refer to of appropriate resources in the community. Check for compliance with the imposed conditions and inform the court of any observed breaches of your order.

Failure to comply with one of your obligations is an offence in itself that can result in you being brought before the court again. You could also be accused of breaching probation, which can result in a prison sentence.

Your ResponsibilitiesYou are the most important person in ensuring that your probation goes smoothly.

Your level of motivation and the quality of your cooperation play key roles in making this measure successful.

In signing your order, you have made a commitment to:
