They defend or prosecute those who are accused of a crime.
Others work to advocate for changes in the criminal justice system.
Some try to make changes regarding current law like the Supreme Court.

They offer many services, including verifying people's backgrounds, tracing missing persons, and investigating computer crimes.
Private investigators and detectives work for attorneys, insurance companies, business and for general public.
