Duke Recycles also manages the Duke Free Store. A program that enables, students,

staff, and faculty to donate and/or take any gently used office supplies, books,

classroom supplies, kitchen supplies, or other various items. You are FREE to leave

whatever you don't want anymore, and FREE to take whatever is available! It is the best place to bring all your extra binders and

folders, or get rid of your roommate's annoying alarm clock (just kidding).

• Reduce your impact! Practice the 3Rs!

• Use reusable mugs and cups for drinks!

• Double-side your copies and print jobs!

• Recycle in one of 1800 bins on campus!

• Lead by example! The only thing in your trash bin should be non-recyclable items!

Remember…plastic, aluminum, tin, cardboard, glass, newspaper, office paper, index cards, junk mail, term papers, paperback books and anything reusable does not go in the trash!!

Reduce and recycle your waste during move-in! Leave the trash at the store! Tell them to hold the shoe boxes and excess

packing material! Hold on to reusable crates and bags, then save them for move-out. Remove tubes from carpet rolls before arriving on campus. Remove appliances and fans from boxes before arrival. Empty and flatten cardboard boxes used for packing. Then recycle them at the Orange Fencing or Cardboard Dumpster!
