A unique aluminum-alloy frame and aluminum

swingarm are both built using advanced alloy

production technology, known as high-vacuum die-

casting. The result is a high-tech work of art, a

combination of beautiful lines and main frame spars

with a seamless surface that is as functional as it is

beautiful.

A sleek cover blends the front of a compact, 16.5-liter

fuel tank with the main frame spars and the radiator

cover. Slim frame side covers tuck in tight under the

one-piece seat, making it easier for the rider to reach

the ground while at a stop. The seat itself is designed to

make the rider and a passenger comfortable, and

features a stylish two-tone vinyl cover. A unique

tailsection wraps around the center-mount muffler and

carries dual, round LED taillights.

An effective multi-reflector 60/55-watt H4 halogen

headlight includes two position lamps and is integrated

with a streamlined instrument cover. The chrome front

and rear turn signals share a unique shape. The front

turn signals are built into the leading edge of the fuel

tank cover, and the rear turn signals are mounted on the

rear fender.

A small bottom fairing positioned underneath the

engine contributes to the GSR600’s original look.

The GSR600’s instrument cluster includes an analog

tach and LCD digital speedometer, along with LCD

digital gear position indicator, odometer, duel trip

meters, fuel gauge and clock. LED lamps are used for

turn signal, neutral, high-beam, oil pressure,

immobilizer system and FI indicator lights. An optional

meter visor is available from genuine SUZUKI dealers.

The ignition switch is conveniently located at the front of

the fuel tank, behind the upper triple clamp, and an

immobilizer system is standard equipment.

All the parts come together in a distinctive example of

high-tech style, a smooth melding of form and function,

accented by lustrous chrome, deep, rich paint and a

high standard of fit and finish.

The downdraft cylinder head comes straight off the

GSX-R600, incorporating a compact combustion

chamber with narrow valve angles, the 27.2mm intake

valves set at 10 degrees from the cylinder centerline

and the 22mm exhaust valves set at 12 degrees from

the cylinder centerline.

Each camshaft is hollow to reduce weight, and cam

timing is designed to enhance mid-range torque.

SUZUKI Super Cast (SSC) pistons are manufactured

using a high-pressure casting technique that reduces

porosity and increases strength. The pistons feature

short skirts and are cutaway on the sides, to reduce

friction and improve efficiency, and are carried by

chrome-molybdenum-steel connecting rods. The upper

compression ring and the oil control ring on each piston

are electro-plated with chrome-nitride using a PVD

(physical vapor deposit) system, in which the chrome-

nitride is vaporized and applied in a vacuum chamber.

The chrome-nitride coating has a more uniform

thickness and a smoother finish than conventional

chrome plating, reducing friction and oil consumption

while improving durability.

The cylinders are integrated into the upper crankcases

and are plated with SUZUKI’s own race-proven nickel-

phosphorous-silicon-carbide coating, known as SCEM

(SUZUKI Composite Electrochemical Material).

Compared to more cylinders with more conventional

liners, SCEM cylinders allow better heat transfer and

tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, improving

efficiency.

The transmission has six speeds, with primary and

internal ratios specifically developed for street use, and

relatively low first and second gear ratios are especially

convenient in city traffic.

The modern design uses multiple neatly integrated surfaces,

producing an edgy, elegant and sporty image.

It enhances the overall performance of the motorcycle and brings

the owner a high level of personal satisfaction.

The GSR600 comes with the revolutionary SDTV (SUZUKI

Dual Throttle Valve) fuel injection system originally developed

for the GSX-R line, with two double-barrel 38mm throttle

bodies. The system uses two butterfly valves in each throttle

body bore, a primary valve controlled by the rider via the

throttle and a secondary valve controlled by a 32-bit Engine

Control Module (ECM) based on engine rpm, gear position

and throttle position. The secondary valve opens and closes

as needed to maintain ideal intake air velocity, producing

more seamless and more linear throttle response, while

improving combustion efficiency, adding to low-rpm torque

and reducing emissions. Small cross pipes link the exhaust

headers for cylinders one and four and the exhaust headers

for cylinders two and three, further improving low-rpm torque.

SUZUKI’s proven Auto Fast Idle System (AFIS) automatically

adjusts the throttle opening for easier cold starts.

Injection volume is calculated by the ECM based on engine

rpm, intake pressure, throttle position and feedback from an

oxygen sensor located in the exhaust system.

SUZUKI’s proven PAIR (Pulsed secondary AIR) system sends

fresh air from the airbox through a reed valve and internal

passageways in the cylinder head to the exhaust ports,

igniting unburned hydrocarbons and reducing carbon-

monoxide emissions.

The stainless-steel exhaust system includes a catalyzer and

an oxygen sensor, and the GSR600 meets EURO3 emissions

regulations. The large, 6.5-liter stainless-steel underseat

muffler is quiet and efficient, producing a pleasant exhaust

note.

The GSR600’s aluminum frame and swingarm are

precisely engineered to handle the high-

performance engine’s output, and to deliver

sporty, convenient handling and a comfortable

ride. The wheelbase is 1,440mm with 25.5

degrees of rake and 105mm of trail. Seat height

is just 785mm, lower than the competition, and

dry weight is only 183 kilograms.

Great attention was devoted to a comfortable,

relaxed seating position for both the rider and a

passenger, with a short reach to tubular

handlebars mounted on the upper triple clamp.

The shape of the seat is engineered to deliver all-

day comfort on the highway and to make it easier

for the rider to put a foot down when stopped.

The rear of the fuel tank is sculpted to meet the

front of the seat, and to make it easier for the

rider to grip with their knees when cornering or

braking. KYB front forks have 43mm stanchion

tubes and deliver 130mm of front wheel

travel, and spring preload can be easily

adjusted to match rider and passenger

weight. A single KYB rear shock with

adjustable rebound damping and

spring preload works through an

advanced, progressive link suspension

system. Rear wheel travel is 134mm.

Fully floating dual 310mm front brake discs work

with TOKICO opposed 4-piston hydraulic

calipers. The 240mm rear disc works with a

TOKICO single-piston caliper.

Cast aluminum-alloy wheels each have three

spokes with a spiral layout, and measure 17M/C

x MT3.50 front and 17M/C x MT5.50 rear.

Bridgestone 120/70ZR17M/C 58W front and

180/55ZR17M/C 73W rear tires are standard.
