Preface
Amity has always exhibited the pace of academic excellence. The Amity Group has been in the forefront in research and innovation. Under the leadership of the great visionary – Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan – Founder President of Amity, it has nurtured talent and contributed to academia and research in numerous ways. One such attempt is this book, which is a compendium of Case Studies showcasing various functions of Human Resource Management. Talent is strength, Talent is an asset, Talent is the differentiator and Talent can bring sustainable competitive advantage. Be it a High Technology company investing in latest products and adopting measures to drive innovation or be it a Low Technology company relying on material and competing with prices, Talent matters. Talent is therefore the most vital resource for an organization. In the words of Fitz-enz, Human Resources are the key to deliver meaningful outputs to customers. Managing them is the biggest challenge to protect the organization’s existence. As a function, HR is evolving and it is strategic to organizational success. This work is an attempt to address the needs of the rapid changing environment by discussing the contemporary HR practices. Decision making for the future can be wisely done by refl ecting on the past events, thus Case Studies serve as an effective method of teaching. Text books in the area provide examples and discussion questions along with short cases thus a need for a supplementary book on Case Studies to update students with practical realities was felt. Case Studies ignite discussions; provide detailed valuable information, develop problem solving skills and bring the readers closer to the working of actual world. The objective of the book is to present a compilation of Human Resource Management case studies highlighting
