Located in the Cusco Region, the site of Machu Picchu was built in 1450 for the Inca Emperor. The site layout was divided into an urban sector and an agriculture sector. There was also an upper town where the temples where located and the lower town where the warehouses were. There was 200 buildings arranged on parallel terraces connected to a large central square.
The city was abandoned for 100 years, until 1874, then re-founded and by 1976, 30% restored. Today it is a historic destination for people to walk through.

Stone Mountain is known for it geology and for housing the largest ‘bas-relief’ sculpture in the world. It is also said to be the largest piece of exposed granite in the world. Commonly used for camping overnight, daily events, hiking and swimming.
Stone Mountain was founded in 1597 by European explorers and was established in 1822 as a “recreation area”. In 1838 Aaron Cloud build the first tourist attraction and after a lot of changes on April 14th, 1964 Stone Mountain Park was finally open.

The Tree house Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is located in Orlando, FL and opened in 1775. There are 60 octagonal shaped units each with 1074 square feet each. Housing three bedrooms and the Villas contain two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, two queen size beds, a bunk bed, and a living room with a pull out couch and sleeping chair. Each of these units are all elevated 10 feet above ground level on pedestals and beams.
The downfall to this precedent is the sameness in the layout and repetitious feel within each indoor and outdoor environment.

Iceland has recently become rerecognized as a popular vacation destination due to its exotic geography and its almost unreal landscapes. The country is small and can be driven in one days time but the divertisy of the different reigons makes it hard to do so and frequent stops are forced to made due to breathtaking views and sceneries. People are traveling to Iceland to experience Iceland.

The emotions retained within natures peeks is a phenomenon that restores any questions held within the user. The dichotomy between everyday reality and the vast actuality of the earths grand scale is no longer a fine line and is apprehended in that moment. During that same breath the emotion of fulfillment is embraced followed by an insight of endless possibilities.
Concept Statement:
Providing a short-term escape for the ever changing user is a place to pause and be revived. The design elements and color pallet will mimic the foreign landscapes contrasted by a mass of white surrounds.

1.When doing the site analysis for all of my sites I realized that the wind direction and sun path are
going to affect the orientation I place each of my modular units in regards to shadows, glares,
views and wind drifts during the winter months. Adding weather properties to the windows and
retractable light shelves on the units could help.
2.When analyzing my parti over my floor plan I noticed that the two coincided with solid partitions
but spatial and organizational properties are not considered. Applying an overlay over the already
existing party and incorporate organizational spaces within the plan will help create clarity.
3.When doing my pallets of presents analysis I noticed that the solo/no-interaction spaces were few
and separated throughout the plan but could have more of those moments.
4.When doing my pallet of posture analysis I noticed that there was a long strip of standing with no
opportunities to sit or lounge in between. Adding intimate conversation all seating areas will help
with that.
5.During the pallet of place analysis I realized that my hosting areas were clumped together in a
corner and needed to be disbursed more throughout the plan.
6.When looking for opportunity for focal point I realize that there are ample opportunities to create
focal points. Determining how to create a new moment at each focal point within the plan will help
create different experiences throughout the users journey.
7.Address more opportunities for sustainability incorporation throughout each site.

Black is the primary use of color in the space reflecting the volcanic rock that Iceland is made of. With the concept lost and found the space is to emulate a dream-like experience in an opposite effect. This is the same effect that Iceland holds with its geography, weather, and natural color scheme.
Implementing the colors of the exterior surroundings create a scene of place. The Heavy use of black creates an enclosed and intimate interior within a building lined with exterior views and natural light.
