at most two mana gers in the sam e company.

Ropponen and Lyyt inen asked twenty quest ions about r i sk by

present ing scenar ios and asking the respondents to rate thei r

occurrence wi th a f ive-point Liker t scale, ranging f rom hardly

ever to almost always. For examp le, the scenar ios included

    Yo ur project i s canceled before complet ing i t .

    and

Subco nt racted tasks in the project are performed as expected.

The researchers posed addi t ional quest ions relat ing to

    organizat ional character i s t ics , such as the organizat ion ' s s ize,

industry , type of systems developed, and

    contr ctu l

    ar r angemen

They also sought technology character i s t ics , such as the newne

of the technology, the com plexi ty and n ovel ty of technologic

solut ions, and the process technologies used. Final ly , they ask

quest ions about the responden ts themselves: thei r exper ien

wi th d i f ferent s izes of projects , thei r educ at ion, the so f tware use

and exper ience wi th project management .
