Balance

Radial Symmetry: This picture shows balance because there’s a trophy on both sides of the award, making the award the central point. Triangle

Composition: There are three objects: two awards and a trophy, which causes your eyes to move across the photo.

Emphasis

Focal Point: This photo shows focal point because the light in the center that’s out is the focal point.

Use of Space: This photo demonstrates use of space because the stars take up the whole photo.

Pattern

The bricks show a pattern because they’re all the same shape and it’s continuous.

The wall shows a pattern because the fake bricks are all the same color, shape, size, and it’s continuous.

Contrast

This photo demonstrates contrast because the shadows next to the bulletin board and the light coming from the door create a dramatic effect.

This photo demonstrates contrast because the light from the sky contrasts the shadows from the trees.

Unity

Aesthetics: This photo shows aesthetics because it’s visually appealing and shows many elements.

Composition: This photo shows composition because it’s well-balanced and visually appealing, and the trophies fit together well.

What did I learn?What the principles of design are, and how each of them are used individually when taking photographs.

What is my favorite Principle of Design?Both Balance and Pattern. I typically like pictures that are symmetrical because they’re more visually appealing to me, so they’re my favorites.

What is my favorite photograph and why?The photo for Aesthetics because it’s the prettiest out of all of them.
